5th wheel sewage boom connection?

Hello, I am a newbie owner of a 2011 5th wheel. Im not sure what to do with the sewage boom??? i have seen others with a flex hose inside, but mine does not have this and there is no connection for a flex hose near the end?? what is the solution??? Or what do i need to do to modify so i can put a flex hose on?

On our old rig I found it not worth the trouble, removed it. Certainly using a flexible hose such as Rhino is an option.

I removed mine and installed a rigid extension with a built in emergency valve.
I use a different connection on my hose so I also have an adapter on the end to convert to standard bayonet connection in emergency.

Russ,
I just used a grinder and cut off the boom, left the strap with the pivot hole to use when I attach a regular 3" drain line to the "safety valve" I added to the 3" ABS discharge pipe. Now I just figure out which length of hose I need (have several, from 5' to 15') and lay the hose on a slinky if needed.
The boom was a pain, and although it did have a bendable end where it connected to the 3" ABS line, I didn't like the limitations of the boom, nor did I know how old the hose was. Just call me 'old school'.

On my 2010 I took the boom off it's bracket and added a shut off valve and a clear 90 both of which accept standard sewer hose. Before that I had a Rino hose in the boom.

Our 2011 has the sewer boom. And I personally think its the greatest invention since sliced bread. It has a rhino hose that extend out, maybe 6-7 feet of so. Has work very well at all dump stations.

However, we are not your typical campers. In 15+ years of RV camping we have only hooked up to sewer 1, that's right 1 time. Its just not worth the trouble for me for 3 days. If We are there for a week or more and had sewer, then maybe. Most of the sites we go to don't have it.

In fact we can go for around 7-9 days fully self contained with water from home and empty tanks.

Why pay $5-10 more per night for something a can get rid of in 10 minutes. In fact in 2 weeks we will be boondocking on the beach for 2 weeks with no hook ups. Ill have to blue tank it once and probably add 20-30 gallons of water. No Biggy.

There is a reason they only installed these for a short time. They are WORTHLESS! I removed ours on our 2012 3585SA and gifted it to someone at the national rally that thought they wanted one.

I still have mine and use it. It does provide some additional support for the sewer hose. Have had some cases where I could not swing the boom due to obstructions and had to just work around the situation. The boom on mine is held to the metal hardware that allows it to swing by tightening of a bolt that tightens a clamp around the plastic boom. This boom is the same thing that you see in camping world for sewer hose storage with on end cut off. Keystone loves change. That is why models come and go, why features change, then there is the fact that they buy parts in large volumes and work to lower costs all the time. If you feel like removing by sliding boom out of the metal hardware, do so. Just need to store sewer hose somewhere, but buy the thicker walled sewer hose as other don't last long in use.

Sorry, the flip phone's pictures are lousy, and we left the digital camera at home on this trip (see, Old School).

i vote for get rid of the boom. Just keep your hoses in a container in the basement. Also attache a hose carrier tube on frame. https://www.google.com/search?client...arrier+tube+rv

Seems the Sewer Boom worked great on some floor plans, not so great on others. We had a 2955RL with the Boom, worked great if the sewer hookup was to the front of the Monty, but if it was towards the back, forget. By the time you tried to angle the boom to the rear the hose was so kinked nothing would flow, so ours went into the scrap heap.

I still have the boom, love it, have a 10 foot Rhino connected. Seems to reach most campgrounds.

I like the boom also. It makes a great place to store the hose and easy to use. If I'm in a location where I can't swing the boom back enough I just add another hose.

I would put some water into the gray tank and flush the line before I took things apart, but as long as your black tank valve works and is closed you shouldn't have an issue with that.

I still have the boom on my 2010. Tore it up at one point and took it off. Found that lugging the hose out of the storage bin every time I dumped was a pain. Bought a Valterra storage tube and rebuilt it for 35 bucks and have a Rhino 10 foot stored inside. In camp ground if I need to I just add an extension. I like it. I can dump and flush twice as fast.
