Awning lock.
Did anyone see the awning lock in the good sam highway mag. this month? I have looked at several and this one is the least expensive and seem effective. I ordered one today, I'll see how well it works. Does anyone use awning locks? I have seen a few unravel going down the road. It seems like cheap insurance.... Jack.

Haven't used an awning lock in the past or had a problem, but this looks interesting. Please let us know your opinion after installation.

Some people use long electrical ties around the awning arms to keep them from coming down. Al actually did this for a while, then studied the entire situation and announced to me (with a long detailed explanation that I cannot remember - old age) that it was useless to do that. So, we just make sure it is in the proper postion when we roll er up! Had a friend once that had his unroll on the xpressway! Was a funny story, not so sure I want to go there tho! HAHA

I haven't see that awning lock so am not sure how it works. I use the velcro straps but am not sure how much good they do. All the ones I've seen unfurled going down the road had rolled off the roller and the uprights were still anchored in place. If the locks would keep the roller from unrolling and were easy to use I'd be interested, though.

I put my awning hook into the small hole in the awning reel, and place pressure on the rod/hook by bending around the back of the upright arm (Just a bit) then take a bunge cord and hook it to the bottom of the arm plate, and a valco strap around the rod so I dont lose it. Keeps the reel from rolling and the awning from rolling out. After losing my awning and the arms did not unlock I found this solution on another forum. Works for me.

Steve,
This one looks like it would hold the awning up. It also seems a bit pricey to me, 39.95 plus shipping. See it at hometown.aol.com/goldenwgf if interested.

Thanks for the link. That looks interesting. 40 bucks is a lot cheaper than a new awning so it might be worthwhile.
RonS, I just took a look at our awning and there is a small hole on the bottom part of the reel end but I don't know if it's the one you used. This one appears too small for the awning rod. I'll test it when done here. Good idea if it will fit.
Thanks.
