Propane Tank Level?

On our previous Monty, I installed some stick on tank level indicaters that were activated by hot water. Can't find them, now. Any ideas? How do others monitor propane levels?

We just got this cool Propane Level Tool "Truma LevelCheck". We had a fellow camper show it to us and it really worked. They are about $80, but I found them on eBay for $50.

Un-latch tank strap, lift tank, gauge fullness by weight of tank, if light remove tank and fill, if heavy strap it back in.

A whole lot cheaper than $50-$80, ....and pretty accurate too. IMO, there is such a thing as having too many gadgets.

I wonder if this one works as well as the Truma? If so, it's a whole lot cheaper! http://www.amazon.com/GasCheck-Propa...ords=gas+level

I use Gas Check. It's accurate & works good once you get the hang of it. Here's the website. Watch the video.

We just keep one tank open. When the tank runs out and is empty, we open the other tank and get the empty one filled.

This way we never run out of propane...

I do the same as Miner, works great. The other thing I do, if I'm curious as to the propane level, is I get a pitcher of hot water, slowly trickle the hot water down the side of the tank, when the water is gone slide your hand down the tank feeling the warmth of the tank, when it turns cold that is the level of the propane, very easy checking process.

I don't like having to get out of a nice, warm bed in the middle of a windy, rainy, cold night to run outside in my skivvies and the wife's bunny slippers to open the valve on the full tank when the furnace quits!

We keep both tanks open, I totally agree with Overlord about having to go outside and turn the other tank on when you run out doesn't really make sense (I have my own bunny slippers though).

When we are using the furnace, like now, I check the weight of my tanks every few days. It is obvious to me by the weight which one is close to being empty. I don't always wait for it to be completely empty before I take it in for refill. I have already taken one in this season that only took 20 pounds.

Mina, great minds think alike.... Guess we have been lucky, have never run out of propane in the middle of the night. But never, say never.

Although, some places charge a flat rate to fill propane tanks. So, whether they put in 30lbs, or 10lbs, you get charged the same amount of dough. In that situation, it would be best to run the tank dry before re-filling.

I have this and have got some false readings if I wasn't pushing hard enough. There seems to be a learning curve with this product. The verdict is still out for me.
