Installing a Splendide washer/dryer in a 2955RL

After reading the thread: https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...94#post1266294
Giving strong considerations to installing a Splendide unit in our Monty. Has anyone installed or had it OEM installed when new? Are they worth the expense and does a 2005 2955RL that has the "washer/dryer prep package" already seem like a reasonable job?

After our first attempt at Snow Birding and having several almost new shirt get ruined using CG washers, we ordered and had installed a Combo Washer/Dryer in that hall cabinet on the stairs. This was in a 2010 2955RL. Had the same unit put into our next unit several years later. Current unit had an area for both washer & dryer and have them now, going on 8 years and wouldn't be without them.

Hadn't considered clothing being ruined but that is a strong possibility too. My experience is from the costs related to doing laundry in the places we have been at. We average about 1-2 loads a week and because we hardly ever stay in campgrounds utilize laundromats in the local community or larger truck stops like Loves or Flying J's. Our costs have been around $10-20 per visit depending on distance traveled, cost of machines, and soap costs. Time spent sitting around waiting on it could be spent doing more productive chores is also a consideration. After reading thru some of the posts where washer/dryers being install and thinking about our Monty being prewired and plumbed for a W/D I'm thinking it would almost pay for itself in short order.

The 2955 is another one of those where the bedroom closet is tight for the install. But it can be done, as many of us have done it.

Appreciate the encouragement. Trying to decide on which unit to purchase and whether I go vent or ventless. LG makes a ventless and Splendide makes a vented. Bunch of other brands but none I really am fond of.

We love our on-board washer/dryer. Recommend separate Splendide washer and vented dryer. For the latter you will need to cut a hole in the wall to install a vent.

I have a ventless WD. Don’t make the same mistake I made. Get the Splendid vented.

Thank you. That is the kind of feedback I needed and was leaning towards the vented version. Would love having the LG model but they make only a ventless version so it will probably be a Splendide version then. After doing our laundry here in Laredo yesterday I am more convinced then ever that next years trip will have a W/D installed. Went to 3 different laundromats before I found one that had a machines available.

Ventless in such a small space will create mold and moisture throughout the camper. Not bad during the cold dry winter air. But come springtime hot humid air you will be uncomfortable.

Just my thoughts.

As stated, vented is the way to go, and with a good holesaw, easy to install.

Bought our 2013 Mountaineer new and had dealer install Splendide (vented). Worked fine but we were almost full timing for work so we needed space and took it out 2nd or 3rd year- we are almost always at RV parks with W/Ds.

We kept Splendide in our heated large garage since and decided with new HC we are not going to install for same reasons as above. If somebody wants it; sell really cheap if you pick it up: located 27 north of Denver.

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink and sometimes you can’t even get him to the water.

We installed an LG Ventless WM3555HVA and are extremely happy with it. It doesn't take as long as I have heard with others to complete a load and completely dry it, maybe because it spins at 1400RPM and has a heat pump drying so it doesn't affect indoor humidity levels. We installed in the closet of our 3761FL. Had to remove the BR door and trim and up 2 flights of stairs, but it was easier than I anticipated.
Good luck with your decision!

Might be the best washer and dryer we have ever owned and I mean full size in house. But it you will never regret it.
