Thanks for the job descriptions. My preference is escort or check in. Peggy is willing to join the parking team as well. Her preference is check in or waving.
We are going to adjust our arrival to try and get there before noon on Sep 7th so we can get parked, set up and start helping since it sounds like things will get busy that afternoon.

My wife and I through our name in to help as we can come early and live in indiana. I read in the threads that we should contact the Elkhart County Fairgrounds to make the early registration. Will this then become our spot for the Rally? Or! Will be moving again once sites are selected.

I haven’t drank any bourbon, yet, I might be confused.

Thanks

If Elkhart County Fairgrounds has your assigned rally site open on the sixth they will put you in it. Your site should be open on the seventh barring the previous tenant not having checked out. The call to Elkhart is more of a courtesy call. They will not have a list of sites until close to the rally. Just like the rest of us. You will have to pay Elkhart at the office for any dates outside of the rally dates. If I remember correctly the extra days are slightly more expensive than the rally days. Our sites are protected for the rally dates but like us, other rally goers may stay extra days after their rally as long as they don't interfere with our dates. There you go, clear as mud.

Thanks for the earlier arrival. Peggy is more than welcome. I actually like the waving job. We make it a contest on who can spot the Montys first. Than we wave rally signs to get their attention and give them a big smile as they turn in. They than get another smile from the person checking them in. It just starts it off right. I don't think anyone comes to the rally to have a bad time.

I don't know your schedule but if you're bored you can always come tuesday afternoon. Sometimes it's nice to get set up before the crowds arrive. If you do be sure to park legally and hope your rally site is open. If not wednesday AM would be nice.

We can arrive on the 7th. Lynn can assist with signing people in and I can escort. We can do whatever you want actually. If I understand correctly, once we have our assigned spot we should contact ECG and check on our site for early arrival.

Thanks.

If you arrive on the seventh you won't need to check in with the office. Your site will be good unless you get in early enough that the previous occupant if there was one has not checked out yet. This doesn't happen very often but if checkout is noon (I don't know what it is) than that is when they have to leave. They will (if anyone was even there) usually check out earlier. We will have some check ins the sixth or earlier. There should be someone there to check you in on the seventh. Elkhart county probably won't know who will be on your site or when they are leaving until right before the seventh. My experience in the past is that I get in early, stop by the office and ask if my site is open. Sometimes they know my site, sometimes I tell them and then they let me know if it is open. If it is not, then you just have to wait until they leave. If you have previously registered for a date other than the seventh, you need to let the WMs know you are coming in early. You will have to pay the WMs cash for the nights that you have not already registered for. See this thread for instructions. Early arrival change procedure

Woody,
Mike Black would like to help you out. We were parked across from you last year I think. I hope that job description has lots of breaks & bonuses built into it since I've heard your a slave driver! We are coming in on the 7th & about 3.5 hrs west of Goshen. So we could get there by mid-morning if needed. 1st time on your team, but what could go wrong, right?

Hi Woody, my name is Neil Katz, my wife is Gail Robillard, hence “Robokatz”. Gail may be available to help as well with parking or anything else you may need, but since our 1st rally we have no idea what our schedules will be. I asked our dog Lucy if she would like to volunteer, but she fell asleep and never got back to me.

Look forward to getting more info.

Sorry, just responded to the above question with my name, but forgot to add your quote…now my post a minute ago should make sense.

Thanks Mike. I like to think of myself as more of a brutal task master. I don't have time to list all the bonuses and all of the breaks are union approved. Any time you get in is great but the earlier I can squeeze some blood out of you the better.

Thanks Neil and Gail. There is nothing official scheduled for the seventh and eighth except maybe packet pick up and camp fires in the evening. Coming in early just gives you a chance to catch your breath before the rally starts. It also allows you to join the "Parking Team" to help others get settled in. It's a great way to meet people. I think Lucy might have selected hearing.

Thanks Woody. My last name is Alder.

I will be sure to have “my cart” stocked with plenty of cold beer, oops “Safety Gear”. Lol.

Looking forward to it!

We are talking to Bruiser and Coco Channel (2 Chiahauhaus) about helping. They just want to play with other dogs. Useless canines.
