how do you do it?

I didn't have a problem cleaning the roof on my travel trailer using a ladder but the 5th wheel it a lot taller. Today I got out the ext ladder just to check out roof and seams there is no way I'm going to be able to go up and down that ladder to clean the roof. I'm not even sure I'm going to be comfortable walking around up there to clean it.
What am I going to do?

The only alternative I can see other than getting on the roof (which is how I clean ours), is getting someone else to get on the roof to do it. As on another thread, I just use blue dawn dishwashing liquid, water and a brush.

I walk the roof. Tie the hose on the rear ladder, bring up soap, empty bucket and long handled brush, fill bucket up on roof and start cleaning. I have the DW with a second hose rinsing off the sides as the junk runs down. Remember to raise the antenna so you can wash under that area

I just put on a pair of good tennis shoes or aqua socks, grab a hose, a bucket full of soapy water, and a soft bristle brush mop, and transfer from an 8' step ladder onto the roof. Sometimes I just use the rear ladder. I start at the front and work my way back. The only advantages I have is being under 170#, no knee problems, and am still fairly adgile.

Like the others I wear a pair of rubber soled shoes and climb the rear ladder with hose, bucket of soapy water, and long handled brush. And be very careful not to step to close to the edge. Working front to back I try not to get the soapy water under my feet.

If you are not comfortable with the height issue then this probably won't help, but a 10' step ladder would probably allow you to use a long handle brush and actually wash it without getting up there on it. If it is an issue where you just don't feel comfortable climbing then I would just pay someone to get up there and wash it down.

well I hate to admit this but I will pay someone to wash mine from now on. Last week I was washing mine and was about done, back by the rear a/c. All of a sudden my feet went up and my ass went down, my head hit the a/c and I started sliding and it was... oh no I don't need this. I went over the right side edge and thank god the slide was open. Set there a bit and then finished the roof very gingerly. I did wax part of the front from up there but no more soap and water thank you.

Hi

Try the local semi truck wash and see what they want to do the job using your supervision. They have fixed scaffolding on each side and do the roofs of semi trailer all the time all you need to do is get it across to them that they use your long handle brush and your soap.

They don’t get on the roof at all.

I find them quite economic compared to an RV repair facility.

I knew someone would come up with an idea. I did find a truck wash near me then I thought about another option. The local rental store has a 10'high 28" wide scaffold then I wouldn't have to go on the roof or go up and down the ladder. I can do that with no problem

I can't get on the roof because I lost my ladder license back at the same time I lost my wheelbarrow license.

Broke a ladder on another SOB. Why it broke I do not know. Couldn't be me. LOL. Anyway, now the DW does it using blue dawn and I provide supervision, moral support, and hand her the hose (using the long handled brush). I also make sure that I am far enough away so I don't get wet.

I wash and check my roof twice a year. Since we are doing a AZ to SD to DC to AL to KS to UT and back to AZ this year I'm going to check out Blue Beacon Truck Wash, http://www.bluebeacon.com/. According to the web site the price is more than reasonable and I've heard some good things about them.

Our local RV dealer - General RV - advertises trailer washing for $10 a foot. That's $380 for a unit the size of ours! Until I lose my ladder license, there's no way I'll pay that price.

I don't get onto the roof I use a extension ladder with the swim noodles on the ladder where it rest on the side of the RV. I purchased a hose attachment that I fill with soap. http://www.harborfreight.com/car-wash-nozzle-60773.html
The car wash soap I use http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/g...h+%2816+oz.%29
I apply the soap and wash with a brush mounted on a adjustable pole. This allows me to do a nice sized area at a time.

I also use the hose attachment and pole when washing the sides of the RV.

I have no problem climbing ladder on back of Monte and walking on roof. I feel that is safer than standing on a ladder and moving the ladder many times to get to the whole roof. If you are not comfortable doing this you should hire someone.

Hmmmm I use an extension ladder too, the one on the trailer I don't think is rated to hold me.....lol lol. Most definitely stay off the soapy part, it turns your roof into a skating rink.
