Exterior Silicone Caulk

Can anyone recommend a good exterior silicone caulk, that if used by the rubber roof works well to give a good seal.

If you have a marine store close by, check there. If works in a marine environment, it will for sure on an RV.

I'd do some more checking if you are trying to use it on the rubber roof anywhere. I'm fairly certain that silicone will not bond with rubber. I had someone redo the joints on a rubber roof I had once and found out later that they used a silicone base caulking and not long after that I discovered one area that just peeled right off where they made repairs.

Use Dicor caulking if you are caulking around the rubber roof.

Yup...what the others said...silicone is a fine product, but that is not the proper application for it.
A Butyl based caulk is what you want for around the rubber roof (and windows too I believe). It sure wouldn't hurt to talk with a rep at Dicor...

Silicone products are a no-no for rubber roofs. I've always used Dicor products, as recommended by the roof manufacturer (Dicor, of course).

Nailbender beat me to it! Dicor is the right stuff! You can find it at any good RV dealership and also at Camping World. It is excellent and will bond forever where the silicone caulk will not at all on the rubber roof that is!

Dicor works great - be careful that there are two kinds. Non-Sag is for running a bead on a vertical surface and the self leveling lap sealant is for sealing items on top of the roof.

I used the self leveling to install the additonal fantastic vent and satellite dome.

Don't use anything that is not made for the rubber roofs, nothing from the hardware stores. That from the RV man that did my Dometic recall this weekend. Won't stick, what does stick causes problems and these guys hate it. No silicone for sure. RV only.

Brad is right, be sure to get the correct type, the self leveling is great on flat or almost flat areas of the roofs. But not on the edges or around windows, it won't work.

Our trailer came from the factory with a silicone caulk on the rubber roof around the radius corners and all the way down both sides. I took it to the dealer and he said it's ok if the factory did it. All of the flat top was done with Dicor self-leveling caulk. We have used DAP silicone caulk with Titanium for recaulking areas that originally had silicone. I have not tried the Dicor no-sag caulk, but it might work. The Dicor self-leveling sure does a nice job and it is a bear to remove.
