OK, be honest, when did you last check ....

Your battery water??
Might be a good idea to do so, as it is out of sight, and maybe out of mind.
When we were staying at Lake Havasu on the Island, we had a power outage, it was amazing how many, (dozens) of persons had no 12 volt lighting. Batteries were bone dry.
(I need to check mine.....)
A friendly reminder from your maintenance nag..

Thanks, Ozz. We had to get a new battery on our way to Branson this spring and now have a jug of distilled water and a turkey basting tool in the basement.

Good Idea. I always crry distilled water and mark the on the Cal. the first of every month to check the batteries. Only takes one time to replace them and you learn fast.

Honestly, I checked mine day before yesterday. All was well, but I topped off with distilled water to bring up to the mark. I have two golf cart 6 volt batteries in a Bluesea battery box:

Last Friday. I try to check the acid level every 4 weeks and only use distilled water to top off if needed.

Every month without fail. Batteries are expensive!!! I do use the disconnect, but don't trust it. Rather check them frequently!!!! Just Me

Monthly along with hydraulic fluid level. Torque at the beginning of every trip. Same for air pressure. Check transmission and brake fluid at every fuel stop. Oil level before every trip. Do a walk-around and look for leaks at every rest stop.

Strange, but my battery is sealed and no way to check water level. Maintenance free battery.

Being that I am still new at this I check the Batteries before we go on a trip (once every other week), along with hydraulic fluid level, Torquing the wheel lugs, checking that air pressure is at 80 psi in the wheel tires, and we try to make sure to do a walk-around the rig before we leave and at every stop during our trip.

I think we are on top of our game when in the travel mode, when it gets to our unit parked, that is where we often neglect the batteries.

Although I only have a maintenance free battery, Checking connections is on my monthly "to do" list, so I remove the cover and check the connections each month. Of course, I have only been doing this for three months now......my total length of RV'ing so far......

We bought our 3400rl new in June of 2006 and have been plugged into electric since, but when I stored it two months ago and went into it to check things out the battery was dead. I plugged it into electric and after 1-2 days the battery was all charged up, so I know it's not the power converter. All lights are off and the battery's fluid level is high. Has anyone had this problem before? I can't imagine what is drawing the current to make the battery go dead.

Even if the refrigerator is off, there is a heat strip that will drain the battery in three days. The carbon monoxide detector draws power from the battery. It's best to have a battery disconnect switch.

Judy is right, it only takes about 3 days to suck the 12V battery dead (learned the hard way - OOOPS). Battery disconnect switch in the convenience panel comes in mighty handy when you remember to use it!!

OZZ, I have a 48" Firestik mounted to the inside of the rear door frame. It is tunable at the top, although I do not have an SWR meter to do this. Not sure how to tune without one, Any suggestions anyone????
