maintenance

While crawling around under my 2009 3585SA I discovered my spring hanger
was not only broken it had turned upside down. Have spent the last four hours reading everything about this subject on the forum. This is the most amazing forum I have read. I will try to add pictures. I could not
find a cost for the IS upgrade, but that looks like a good option.
Could someone please route me to the picture tutorial. Thank You

Not aware of anyone who's done IS on their own. It's a complete change not just a bolt on. Our cost a couple years ago was around $4,000 which included welding and matching the height of the suspension to our truck.

Does your 3585SA have wet bolts with heavy duty hangers?

I have found the wet bolts but have not found a source for heavy duty hangers. Cutting off the welded hangers and replacing them would be quite a job. Is that what you did?

I think the reference to heavy duty hangers was referring to the heavy duty shackles that come with the wet bot kit. I have never seen shackles, either light or heavy weight, advertised. Many folks have "boxed" the end of the hanger (the end away from the end of the spring and then added a gusset at 90 degrees to that. This stiffens things up a bunch.

If the Search worked for older posts you could find postings (with pictures) from those folks who have re-enforced their hangers.

Hi

That is not a very difficult repair. One of mine was broken like that and the frame damaged. I found a pipe line welder who was recently recertified and he did the repair for me.

The only recommendation I have is have a water hose laid and the water running while the welder is working so you can handle a fire very quickly.
