Brake Magnets

I thought some might be interested in seeing the brake magnet and what it looks like inside. I took an old one and cut it in half so I could take the pictures.
The center metal is wound with fine copper wire creating a coil, when voltage is applied it sets up a magnetic field in the center and creates the magnet in all of the metal parts. In the second picture you can see the copper windings and how they are embedded in the epoxy material.

Information only to those interested.

Thanks for that, never knew what the magnets looked like on the inside. Recycle the copper and take her out for dinner.

Thanks for the "destructive testing" documentation. A further point is there are different strength magnets per axle rating denoted by the color (black, white, green) of the wire on the magnet assembly ... I assume more windings to make up the coil.
