CABINET DOOR STRUTS
We have a Monty 3455SA. Above the stove are 2 cabinet doors that open from the bottom up. You need to hold the door open while putting dishes away.
Someone recommed installing door struts on these doors to stay open. How do you know what size to buy & how are they installed.

I got the ones Mike noted above, the plastic ones. Came two to a package, but I only need one to keep my door up. Had it been much heavier I would have needed both.

I just measured how far I wanted the door to open and then got the ones that had those measurements. Easy job and makes you a hero with the DW.

Now lets be honest Dick, we all know you put the dishes in those upper cabinets because Joyce would need a 6 foot step ladder to reach them. so you installed the struts for yourself.

We just got the metal version and will install shortly. I had plastic in my SOB and they failed after 5 years. The ones recommended here may be a better quality. I installed one on the SOB and I allowed too much lift on the door and it started to crack the wood when opening and closing. I had to readjust it for the limited piston throw.

Had the metal kind when we had the horse trailer. All of the cabinets there opened from the bottom. As I recall we installed one end on the door first, then to the cabinet frame. The normal position of the plunger is out. That's what holds the door open. The weight of the door will hold the plunger in when the door is closed.

I have a similar situation over the desk by the TV. We purchased a strut for each, installed the first one twice to get the correct location. They work great. I was concerned that the door pulls would damage the ceiling so I used #14 stranded wire and Ring-tong connectors to make "travel limiters". This made the whole system work perfectly!
