PEDESTAL TABLE LOOSE

We have the swivel type pedestal table with the end slide-out leaf.

The pedestal has become loose on the floor mounting base. Please note that I am talking about the pedestal and not the base that fastens to the floor.

Does anyone know if the pedestal tightens from the top down or the bottom up?? Meaning do I take the table top off or do I remove the table base from the floor ??

You might be able to do it from either end, there is a long bolt that runs the length of the pedestal that needs to be tightened, not sure if you can do that without holding both ends. Mine also came loose as well the pedestal started to come apart. I did take it right out and did some work on it but you might not have to do that. Not a big job but it is fairly heavy when all together.

I had to unscrew the base from the floor to tighten the nuts on long rod. There is a nut on both ends that need to be secured to tighten. Keep in mind that these nuts and rod "work" each time the table is swiveled. The original nuts will probably work loose again. I replaced the original nuts with nylon lock nuts. The table is stiff when it turns, but it hasn't loosened again.

Thank you for the information on the table. I did remove the table from the floor to re-tighten the center bolt. It seems good as new.

I also tried rubbing candle wax on the board riding on the pedestal hoping this would reduce the friction the way you do on windows. Table still turns hard so I don't think it did much good.

But the table is fixed. Thanks again.

Larry- I used bar soap under table and table slides and noticed much easier operation. You can probably lay on floor and rub soap in enough areas to help some.
