What's it worth?

My wife and I are following a 2003 Big Sky on Ebay and would like to know what you think reasonable price would be for the unit. I know it's a rough call from just pictures but this is what I have to work with. Also, if anyone knows any thing about the seller I would appreciate that feedback.

Here is the link:

Go to NADA and they will give you an idea what this unit may be worth

Don't want to comment on a rig I haven't seen, but Camping World has a number of them for sale and the average asking price seems to be $19,000 and you should be able to negotiate down a fair amount from there and there most likely would be a short warranty period. That should give you an idea about what you want to bid for it, if you decide to bid.

My advice is, dont mess around. I would start looking at 1 ton trucks. They may not have to be a dually, but any 350, 3500 series trucks from any of the big 3 will work for you. These campers are heavy, and seem to get heavier with age...lol Probably because of all the crap we find to keep filling them up! Being under trucked sucks, and I dont plan on being there again.

Gas vs Diesel is a whole other topic. If you planning on full timing and towing alot, a Diesel may be more in your future.

The pictures tell me that is a 3295 RK. I had an 02 and really liked it. The lights over the table and couch are switched on the wall instead of the fixture. The water heater is in the curb side rear and the low drain point for the water are there also. That was a weak link in those earlier models. They would freeze at about 28F where the newer 06 and later models are good for zero F.
I see the microwave is removed.
I see they reversed the table and couch.
I liked the quality in our 02 big sky. We traded to a newer non big sky because we had to live in over the winter months.
I think the $17K from NADA is quite high.

I looked more closely at the pictures and it seems the propane tank, microwave and something else is missing (can't tell but there is another empty place on the outside storage). I have emailed the seller and he said he will take 11K for the unit as a "Buy it now" deal. I am not really ready to buy now but don't want to miss a major deal.

What to do?

i guess the one thing that would make me a little uneasy is that he or she is ready to drop the price so quick. with that i would never buy any thing with out trying it out first there to many thing that could be bad the question i would ask is why is so many things missing off the trailer it looks like it is a part trailer and it was clean up and now they are just trying to get out from under it as quick as they can there are so many deals out there and i mean really good deals just keep looking. it took me over a year to get mine and she came to me with some problems i had to fix. i would never giver her up but there is never a real good deal just take your time. this is one thing that i have learn in the RV world there is no hurry with nothing. well that is not true there is one thing that i get in a hurry for and that is dinner.

It is ten years old. Banks will not finance it. Get a PDI for your protection. See if an extended warranty can be purchased for it. Not enough info to make a good decision. If it is a private citizen he should pay for the PDI. If it is a dealer , he should do it for you. If it is sold "as is" be careful. A troublesome RV can be a real disappointment. Larry

In addition to the missing micro, and propane bottles, it appears that the shore power plug is missing as well.

Nine years old means you probably can't get an extended service contract. So, you are gambling at whatever price you are "all in" with. If it were me? No more than about $6,000.

The position of the couch in relation to the television is somewhat odd, I think, because the owners moved the furniture around (as John Kohl said). Even if the television swivels a lot, you're basically sitting facing the kitchen, while the dining table and chairs are in the television area.

Contact a RV service person in the Atlanta area and pay them to go check it out. There are people in the auto business you can get to appraise an old classic car for a couple of hundred. Maybe a sales person or a RV lot that does consignmet lot could look at it for you. Just a thought.

Look at the bedroom. The scalloped trim over the slide out is missing as well as over the windows. May of had the master bed slide replaced or some other issue. The cabinet over the dresser in the bedroom has a plywood panel where the glass should be.

There is no hardware (handles) on any of the bedroom cabinets.

What are the wires hanging by the Right rear.

Looks like the side compartment lid is dented creased (not even able to close).

The awning is clearly missing as well as the Radio too.

This rig may of been vandalized or reposessed while hooked up to the power with no plug for the 50amp AC.

Kinda glad you passed on this one

Nope better yet Run Far Far away from this unit. Unless you can get it for a song and a prayer.

The winning bid was 9,800.00 US $$$. To many things missing or damaged.
