Big Sky washer/dryer prep

Is anyone familiar with the washer/dryer prep in the new Big Skys. I remember seeing a photo showing a shelf where the dryer is to be installed. We are having problems with our washer/dryer instillation in our new 3400RL and the shelf arrangement may be the answer. I am would like to know if this shelf is in all new Big Skys or is it an add-on when the washer/dryer is installed. It would much easier to purchase the shelf than to try and build something similar. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

We have a call into the factory to get this information about the shelf. At the dealership, the only rack is a wire rack without external venting.

Dennis or Carol, the big sky that we saw did not have the shelve for the dryer. The compartment was set up like a closet for hanging clothes but did have the w/d hook ups.

Dennis and Carol,

What kind of problem are you having with your 3400? (just about to install ours).

I've had a call into Keystone as well on the shelf. I would have to build rather than buy, as they use a different wood on the Big Sky.

We have been having a big problem with the hoses leaking at the faucets. We have the Maytag front-loader and the 220V dryer. The washer and dryer have been great, just can't stop the leaks at the faucets. With the shelf, should be able to re-tighten without having to pull the dryer. Maybe because the fittings are made in "CHINA". Anyway, off in search for new fittings.

Hello All,

We had the washer\dryer prep done when we ordered our 3075. We don't have enough experiance to decide if we will add them or not.

The question I have, is the dryer vented to the outside? I don't see any obvious vent for the dryer.

Grant,
With the washer/dryer prep Keystone does not install the dryer vent. Your dealership or shop that installs the actual appliances will have to drill the hole and install the vent.

BirdingRVer, The washer/dryer prep option does not include a vent for the dryer. You can get vented or non-vented dryers. If I ever get one, it will be the vented type. The non-vented type dump the damp air inside the RV and take longer to dry clothing. If you decide to get one, it will have to be the combo type, we only have room for one unit in the 3075's

Talked with Charles Wade today and he confirmed that the washer and dryer being put in the Big Sky is the Whirlpool. He says the reason is that they are somewhat larger, apartment size, and that the Ariston controls interfered with the folding door. The wood shelf is only being put in the Big Sky at the factory if the washer/dryer option is chosen. He mentioned that Keystone is having a heck of a time getting the Big Skys out to dealers because they are generally sold before they get to the dealers lot.
