Inverter question

Looking to get 3000watt inverter/charger/built in transfer switch.I see a go power model gpic-3000-12 has a 50 amp transfer switch. My 2017 3160rl has 50amp so would this be what I'm looking for something like this? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

How hard was it to install? And does it work well?

Gregg,

I wrote a check to have it installed, so pretty easy. Added a sub panel so everything except water heater and a/c will run off it. Works like a charm.

Why add the sub panel and not omit the the sub panel and just not turn on the AC or electric water heater?

Trying to find a video on how to wire inverter to panel. Saw inverter with 30 amp transfer switch looked like a lot of work because of 50 amp on camper.

He now has an IC3000 but the wiring is identical. The OEM ATS is not an issue, Wire it behind the ATS if you have an onboard genset, or in place of the ATS if you have a portable genset. In either case you may have to run extra wire to the location of the IC3000 and then back to the RV breaker panel. But that is not a very difficult problem to solve. Your inverter should be as near as possible to the location of your batteries but not in the same compartment if you have lead acid batteries that are not vented outside.

if you have a hardwired EMS then the IC3000 would go behind it rather than the OEM ATS. IF you have a portable EMS then this is not an issue.

IF you have a portable genset vs an onboard one then you could actually take the OEM ATS out all together as it is no longer needed with the new inverter. Its ATS will not know the difference between shore power or power coming from a portable genset since the portable genset will be supplying power through your shore power cable.
