OEM TV wiring
Had my Direct TV HD antenna set up yesterday. Cannot get signal using the OEM trailer wiring. Works great when I connect direct from antenna to receiver power module. Any expert advice?

I have heard/read this before many times. On our Montana it makes no difference on or off.....everything about tv wiring works just fine from the factory. Am on Dish Network using standard 1000.4 dish mounted on a surveyors tripod and feeding a VIP722 receiver. Gets ALL channels. Sets up in 15 minutes max.

I believe it depends if there is a dedicated satellite input (not sure how yours or a 2010 model is wired?). On ours we get satellite, cable and on-air all at the same time, previous model 2012 model was the same, but 2007 model was not.

My system booster is for digital TV. If referencing SWM power supply, yes it's connected. My problem is keystone internal wiring. Does anyone know if they put a splitter between convenience center and entertainment center?

Here is a post with 3 different wiring diagrams for different model years. Maybe it will help.

Bingo Bingo Bingo BINGO,
Why in the world did I ever doubt a coal miner!!! Before I tore everything completely apart, I hooked up as usual and then pressed the little boost button which I thought was for crank up antenna only. Everything works normally now. If you get back to the panhandle when I'm in town, a case of your favorite is on me. Thanks.

Reminds me that mine isn't shown either, and I'm going to have to figure it out sometime this week (got a new model Tailgate & Dish box).

I don't know about more recent models but I installed a fixed DirecTv SWM system that I know works and I kept getting 771 errors that the IRD couldn't communicate with the dish. A few times unplugging the power inserter and replugging it would clear the issue but it would go out again. Digging into it I discovered on the back of the wall plate in the entertainment center that Keystone used crimp on F fitting connectors. That is a major faux paus! The DirecTv system needs to be able to pass around 2.4 Ghz and specs special compression connectors. I replaced the fittings behind the wall plate and now no more problems. I'm assuming that the fitting behind the external hookup is a crimp connector as well but I'm not going to replace that one unless I have more trouble.

Mike, I've been there and done that, but I've also had to replace connectors in several places with better quality ones. I also replaced the Wonder bread tie used to hold my TV wiring together with a real wire tie.

And you can bet that the crimp on tools at the factory are: a) old and worn out, b) choice a plus used by some that know what they are doing/some that don't, c) factory doesn't provide any tools and old caleb is using whatever seems to work. Kidding aside...we all know that this is related to time to do the job and using parts that are the cheapest that work when done by someone that is good at doing it. Just another form of entertainment for me to do when I am sitting around and not doing anything worthwhile. For those of you that have never used a compression connector, go to home depot and look at them and the tools you can buy for them. Not costly and the quality difference should be apparent to you. John
