Gray Tanks 2015
I have a new 2015 3440RL Montana. The owners manual leaves something to be desired. I found out that I have 2 gray tanks and one black tank. This is not in the owners manual. It just says I have a 96 gallon gray tank. I knew that the indicator panel had lights for 2 black tanks and two gray tanks. It was until the kitchen sink backed up that I found I had an extra EMPTY valve under my entertainment slideout near the kitchen sink. That is why the owner manual leaves something to be desired. Now I just don't know how big that tank is or how big the bathroom gray tanks actually are without filling the kitchen one with 5 gallon buckets of water until it backs up. Does anybody know this information before I subject myself to this task?
Thanks, Dave form Albany Oregon

It has been reported by many that the two gray tanks are of equal size.

Everyone i've known who took the time to put buckets of water down them to measure found them to be identical.

Yep, agree with all...approx 45 gal each...shower grey seems bigger and is same size as my black tank. Two black tanks only on two potty models. Manual- generic, you may find something useful in it...but don't bet on it. Tank monitor- worthless or soon to be worthless, with readings not meaning anything. John

Hi Dave from Albany, OR. Terry here, from Hillsboro OR. Yep, as has been said, you've got two grey tanks, the company just lumps them together as a total capacity. And as mentioned, the fresh tank and the two grey tank monitors usually work fairly well. The black tank one though, is worthless. It gets stuff on it, and even flushing doesn't always remove everything. The "burp" method of telling when it's getting close works good. Also, if you listen close, you CAN tell by the noise of the flushing water about how full it's getting as well.
Safe travels.

I think the burp method should be avoided at all cost. I think I will be sick just thinking of it !

You must have a very weak stomach. The burp causes no mess or foul odor. Just member that when it "burps" go ahead and dump........don't keep "burping"!

When the tank gets full enough to block the vent pipe entrance, the liquid will "burp" when you flush because a small amount of air must leave the tank when you flush and that's the only direction left for it.
