18 cu ft Norcold Refrigerator Water Issue
Okay, I know that a lot of people with the black hose hanging out their refrigerator vents will ask if that is the issue. We have the new Norcold 18 cu ft fridge with a white hose into an evaporation tray. We have been having standing water inside our refrigerator. It was set at 4. Things were cool enough, but not icy cold. We thought perhaps it was set too warm, so we upped it to 6. Still water dripping from somewhere. Things in the freezer are frozen, fridge is plenty cold. Still water inside the fridge. Opened the outside compartment and the evaporation tray was full. No drain, so I took it off and dumped it. Two questions: what setting do you keep the Norcold 18 cu ft fridge set at and has anyone else had this problem and fixed it? I am hoping that we had so much drainage that with the hose in the tray it was just syphoning back into the fridge.

If you're still in the midwest, the humidity we're having right now is way more than normal and too much to evaporate much from the tray. Can you put the hose over the side of the tray without watering something you don't want wet? If so, that's what I would do for a while. I'd also check to see if the fridge door is sealing properly. Again, a small gap in this humidity would put a lot of extra water into the fridge.

Thanks, Dick. I am curious why they didn't vent the evaporation hose like they did in the past.

Ours is actually set up the same as you describe. Works great in Arizona, not as well here in this weather. I would still make sure the doors are sealing, however. It really sounds like more water than I would expect.

Dick, only in the 60's and 70's here. Not what I would have expected. We will check in the morning.

I get some much water from humidity in florida that the hose comes out of the tray and I let it stick out the outside vent. Even so, still get some water on the top of some things in fridge. And this is with the 12 cu ft norcold. The 18 has that extra volume which equates to more warm air after opening doors in high humidity places. John
