I think their truck is a 2001, the Montana 2955RL is listed as a 1996 model. As Montana didn't come in existence until 1998/1999 and the OP states it has a two zone thermostat (which early models did not have), it is impossible to answer the thermostat question.
As for connecting to the ducting it depends. Early models did not have ducting for the bedroom A/C. A unit installed in that location merely "dumped" into the bedroom. The latest and greatest models do have dual ducting which incorporates the bedroom A/C.
Without know the exact year of the trailer, it is hard to provide a definitive answer.
