Parker AZ
We are picking up our Big Sky after having the damage from our tire failure repaired and plan to head up to Parker AZ on our way to Bullhead City - any recommendations for a campground?
Thanks in advance,
Jo-Anna

David and Jo-Anna,
We normally boondock in the parking lot of the Casino just north of town. But if you don't want to do that then there is a CG located right next to the Casino and a lot more on up the road.
The Casino has a fairly good restaurant/buffet.

We found the C.G.'s over the river in California to be very nice. Wild Burrow everywhere, left over from mining days, down at the golf course they are a pest, all over the greens.
There is the county C.G., (this side of the river) it is nice, but crowded, we had to stay at the very end, overflow, I think. Try the floating café there at the county, it is very reasonable, and you can see all the boats running up and down the river. The Colorado river is just beautiful there.

Don't even think about the river on a holiday weekend.

We arrived about 3pm at Buckskin State Park in Parker. The campground was full and as they told us on the phone, we were placed in the "day use" area, with a cabana and 15 amp - we squeezed into this great spot ON THE RIVER!!!!!!! We have a picnic table and barbeque/fire pit - had dinner by candlelight on the river watching the full moon - geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzz ---------- life is so good.
Try it...you'll like it.......

Stay away from the Casino Campground. They have road bumps that are so high (and we always take it very slow over them) that 2 pyrex baking dishes broke. Also, didn't like the price $197 for the week.Full hookups, w cable, no wireless internet.

Jo-Anna and David,
While at Buckskin take the hike that goes over the road. We hiked there and saw several mine holes, and the walk around the area is good exercise. The views to the river are spectacular.

We stayed at the county campground on the AZ side and found it quite enjoyable. We agree that you should have lunch at the floating bar/restaurant. Watch out for the wet t-shirt contests in the summer!
