Greensboro, GA to Pigeon Forge, TN

Traveling from Greensboro, GA to Pigeon Forge, TN, my route guide shows the most direct route which is primarily US441. That route winds its way through the Great Smoky Mountain Park. Has anyone driven this with your RV and how was it ? Not the scenery, the actual drive.

Hi,

I have not driven there with the RV attached yet.
The road till Cherokee will be no issue.
After Cherokee its quite a climb up and going down to Gatlinburg you have a lot of sharp curves.
I would recommend to drive around 85/26/40.
Once arrived take the trip from Pigeon Forge to Cherokee and enjoy

Mike

I like to stay off interstates when practical. I have pulled my rv up 441 to just north of Dillsboro and across NC74 to Lake Junalusca with no issues. Four lanes all the way and scenic drive. You can hop on I40 just north of there if you want to avoid the Cherokee to Gatlinburg stretch of 441.

While you are there take a spin up on the Blueridge Parkway. We live in Roanoke Va. and traveled it last year in our camper. It’s a beautiful ride with RV camps every 3 hours apart. It’s well worth the ride. I live about 12 miles from the Parkway so I’m on it often.

85/26/40 is my alternate route. Looks like 1 hour longer but no white knuckle mountain driving.
