Hot water heater problem

Well found something I have never dealt with. Wife was up at 4:30 am and had hot water. Then she woke up and turned on hot water at faucet no water out of hot cold runs fine. If you have any ideas please let me know. I pulled the line off the hot water heater that runs through the trailer and it has a valve coming out of the heater. Could this be plugged or defective. I need a shower!

Yes, that could be the problem.

Assuming you have no hot water at ANY of your faucets it is likely that valve you speak of. You should be able to get replacement at any large hardware store without relying on RV dealer.

That is a check valve and has been known to get plugged or go bad. As others have said " You should be able to get replacement at any large hardware store "

That was the problem. That said I hit lowes home depot and ace and no one had one. What is the danger of putting it back with out the spring in it.

I took it out of our last trailer and had no issues with it

I think the only problem you will have is if you try to winterize with antifreeze. No matter how you set the shut offs to winterize, with out the check valve the water heater will still fill with antifreeze. At least that is how I remember it.

Winterizing is the only reason for the check valve on the hot outlet of the water heater. If it wasn't so darn hard to reach, you could replace it with a shutoff valve which would do the same thing when winterizing. When I replaced our water heater this past summer, due to a leaking tank, I considered just installing a nipple in place of the check valve, but just re-installed it.
