Repaint?
Our 2006 2955 is looking a little shabby. I have priced new decals, and wonder how much more it would be just to paint the whole thing. Anybody done this?

Painting it yourself or taking it to an RV body shop? The cost will be light years different.

I’d like it to look better, which it wouldn’t if I painted it. So, probably a shop.

Full Body Paint on new units is near $10 grand or a little more, you might find a place that could do a good job for somewhat less.

I just went to IRV2 forum and searched paint. Lots of threads for motor homes.
After 3 minutes of EXTENSIVE research…$10k for full body paint from the Montana factory is a steal. Lots of recommendations to take the unit to Mexico across the border from Yuma and save $$$ as compared to paint job in the USA.

Well, looks like decals aren’t so expensive, after all. I have a phobia about Mexico, so that’s out. Thanks for the help.

Well, you know what? For just a fraction, I mean a "fraction" of the $10 grand you could get some spray paint and a paint brush, some tape, and some designs and perhaps do it yourself .... like these? Click here... Check these out! You won't need those graphics either. You can save even more $$$.

I have the same trailer but 1 year older. I removed the decals, lots of work! Then I buffed everything with Meguirs one step compound 67 using high speed buffer and wool bonnet. It turned out really good. I could see my reflection! I bought generic decals on ebay for $250 for both sides.

There are places that do vehicle wraps of whatever design you want. The neighbor had a motorhome done and it looks good. Not sure of the cost.

I'd investigate the wrap. Believe it is big bucks lower than paint and you'd have a unique coach

Thanks for all the tips, guys. I’ll have some time to think about it, since the rig is still buried in snow.

Before purchasing a wrap. Look into longevity. From what I’ve read , they last approximately 5 years or so

My 2015 Montana 39 foot needs graphics on one side where the sun caused cracking of the decals while the unit was in storage.
I recently priced out the factory decals for only that one side and and online dealer quote from their parts department was $2300.00 US funds.
Then someone has to take off the old ones and install the new ones. Pricey!!
The aftermarket decal online businesses that advertise RV decal replacements don't have the computer programs yet to cut out decals on a 2015 model year unit. 2014 is the latest year Montana that they can supply decals for.

Thanks, I’ve about decided to remove the ratty ones and leave the rest alone. We’ll see.

I also have the same trailer, removed all my decals with a product called "Graphxoff" very easy process, found someone on ebay that was making replicas of that model year, replaced them all for less than $700.

Once you take off the decals you will likely have decal “ghosts” where the decals were. A good compound of your rv fiberglass depending on its condition/oxidation, then a good polish, then good wax will make it look new, and I mean NEW. You CAN do this yourself with a good professional grade polisher. You can get a good professional polisher at a big box store. I have rented a portable scaffold and took a couple weeks and helped my neighbor do his 2009 Montana. We did not work on it every day which is why it took two weeks, but when we were done it was amazing. The scaffolding lets you work at eye level rather than overhead, which is killer on the arms. The cost was a few hundred bucks which was far lower than a paint job. He did put new decals on before we waxed it but I don’t remember the cost. I think they were OEM decals. This was pre covid so I’m sure the cost of decals is much higher. Check out how much a professional would cost to put the decals on your rig maybe as a side job for someone with the know how. Some sweat equity can save you thousands. Good luck!

If your decals aren’t badly cracked or peeling, try treating them with 309 protectant after a good cleaning. That stuff is amazing. Might not have to replace them after all.
