Extended Running Boards

Congratulations on your truck, you will absolutely enjoy DRW traveling! As a possible alternative to carrying an step stool, On my Ford, I have Extended running boards that go to front side of back tires and overlap the bed. Ram might have an option or aftermarket version. I’ve also seen some flip down steps as well. These options wouldn’t be directly over the wheel so the reach may not be the same as some of the others mentioned but is closer in just forward or rear of the axle. All personal preference, just a few additional options to help you decide for yourself.

Also, since dually is new to me please advise - how in the heck do you put air in the inboard (and outboard) tires? The valve stem looks to be turned inwards towards the frame. Whats that all about?
Thanks,
Max
they make a step that hangs on wheel or a single plastic step that folds flat about 1 1/2 thick I havbothe

I have sensors on everything including the spares. I don’t use extensions, I have stainless steel valve stems on inner tires.
Call me at 574-551-5883 if you need source
for valve stems and I’ll tell you where I get them. If you need a TST tire pressure monitor systems, I’m a dealer and MOC member.

I use these to avoid having to spin off valve caps and do not use the extenders.

Couple of years and performing well.

This on sale now at $38.

I use a plastic milk crate and the added bonus is when you take your LP tank to fill it just set it in the milk crate and it is stable in the back of the truck. I have the Ford factory tail gate step that was linked but it does no good hooking up a 5er.

Can't help with air as I have SRW.

But after looking at the posts here, I may get one of those over the wheel steps — I didn’t even know they made such a thing.

As for airing up the tires, I invested in stainless steel dually extended valve stems. The stems and installation was around $275, but it’s been worth it. Not an issue checking or filling up tires.

Don't feel bad. I'm 6'2" and I can't get up on the tailgate of one of the new trucks without a ladder myself
