Question Help installing rear view camera

I have the camera and plan on tapping in to the running lights at the top rear of the Monty. I need to drill a hole in which to run the electric wires up to the light. What kind of drill bit should I use? I read where a 3/4 inch diameter is recommended, but is it a metal bit, a wood bit, a keyhole bit?????
Thanks for the help.
Oh, if anyone else has done this, how do I seal the hole - a grommet and then what else.

I removed the middle running light and mounted the camera over the hole that was there for the light. Sealed everything up with silicone. Remember that the running lights must be on for camera to work.

GAinaMontana - good idea. I may try that if the hole currently isn't too big.

I believe that the hole was 3/4". The wires easily pull out to the connector caps.

I have a 2017 legacy and was disappointed that the camera could not be used unless the lights were on. I wanted a view back there while driving ,like a rear view mirror. I disconnected the camera from the clearance light power and ran a wire down to an inside light switch and picked up power on the hot side of the switch. I added a toggle switch on the inside wall so that the camera could be turned off when not needed. I always have it on when driving and it works well in the daytime. At night it is not very good due to the lack of light. Headlights show up, but just as a splash of light but at least I know that someone is back there.

Some vehicles have adjustable settings for daytime running lights for on or off. Not a bad idea to have them on anyway. If tapping into clearance lights you may need to know this. I never cared to view the rear camera going forward anyway. Mine must be a cheapo camera as it does not show a steady view, but a "choppy" view at highway speeds. Maybe a refresh rate thing? Going very slow or at backup speeds it is better.
