2015 Montana "Real" leather???

Greetings all,
I am looking to upgrade from my Mountaineer to a 15 3790RD. I just got back from looking at the model, awesome, and wondering if anyone can tell me if the sofas and theater seating are genuine leather. Is there a tag or something? The salesman said it was, but I could not tell. I have seen some pretty convincing vinyl look a likes. My sense of smell is not to great either...

They use the term "leather" but I think what it is Bonded leather, also called reconstituted leather or blended leather, is a term used for a man-made upholstery material made as a layered structure of a fiber or paper backer, a pulp made from shredded leather, and a polyurethane coating which is embossed with a leather-like texture. Related products, bicast leather or coated leather, are made by splitting, shaving, or grinding leather to reduce its thickness, and then laminating it.,You don't think they would use top full grain leather on a Montana do ya?Maybee a 140K New Horizons or something

I think you have got it figured out. At the same time we would order again the pleather option in future and the brick surround as well!!!

It has been my experience that bonded leather does not wear well or last anywhere near what top quality leather does. It's much cheaper and that is why all but high end RVs use it. Keep your expectations low and you'll be happy with it.

The cloth furniture was still there after 7 years of hard use in our 06 3400.We did not go for the cheap leather in the 13 3402

We replaced the recliners, but the three sofas in our first three Montana unit held up just fine including six years of full timing. Too early to tell on the 2015.

yep, it is real 'fake' leather.

listening to the salesperson is one of the many mistakes we all make. for the most part these people don't know much about the trailer they are selling. we've had to tell salesperson how things operate on montanas.

Although we ordered fabric, the factory messed up and put leather in and after 15 months of FTing in the rig it has held up well...we are not big fans of leather since it is cold in winter and sticky in summer but we will tolerate it....

Hey folks, we have a 2015 3440 RL and WE LIKE it and the furniture too! Seems like this board is pretty one sided, when you have something that is not new, all you guys do is bad mouth it. I did not do this when I had my 2005 Montana and all you jokers are getting 07, 08, 09 and 10s. This board overall is loosing it core values, help not cut down fellow owners!

I am Not sure about what your talking about insulting owners of older models,I have owned a 2004,a 2012 and my new 2015 and LOVED all of them and I never been insulted on this Forum when I had my older Monty's BUT when something is Junk I am going to tell it like it is,on my 2012 the furniture WAS junk,I did not know that when I bought it but found out later after a few months, maybee Keystone listened because the 2015 stuff is better by far Even though it is not Real leather and that is what the OP asked and we told him the truth

We had a 2003 (Big Sky 3295), 2005 (Montana 3400RL) and 2013 (Big Sky 3402) for the most part I did a lot of the repairs myself after the warranty period.

On the prior units we did not have to worry about the microwave starting up in the middle of the night on its own.

The bottom of the kitchen chairs didn’t fall off, and you could set on them for hours. The 3402 is like setting on a rock.

The couch started to fall apart in less than 6 months.

Stairs going into the bedroom had to be reinforced twice?

Stairs not on the recall broke and had to be replaced?

Rubber seal around all of the storage doors is not installed correctly and coming off?

Desk top splitting at glue joint replaced?

Kitchen table top is splitting at glue joint replaced?

Cabinet door above microwave had glue joint separation replaced?

Sewer discharge line was misallocated common to the sewer boom not allowing the boom to be used sewer boom removed and new boom installed correctly?

Corian stove top covers are bowed and do not set level? (To bad so sad)

Rubber roof has staples coming out under the rubber material? (To bad so sad)

I’m not sorry about buying the (3295 and 3400RL) but the 3402 is a different story.

Yes this forum is to help and inform the good the bad and ugly lately it’s ugly!

We put a lot of extra work and money into the 3400RL took it to Alaska and the south west with no big issues, for this much money we could have gold plated it put on the IS, Level-up and disk brakes and still come out ahead.

If I ever want to get a Divorce all I have say do you want to the RV show and look at the new units.

Always thought our Montana Leather was very well made. It's rumored to be from the rare and elusive "Nauga Beast" of Northern Peru. It's very tough and durable and has the familiar smell of seats from a 1963 Vokswagon Beatle. I personally have never see a Nagua in the wild, or one in person for that matter, but my dear Mother always insisted on Naugahyde on all our Divan's when I was growing up. FYI our couches have fared extremely well. They look great and have seen lots of traffic!
