Ram Mega Cab vs Ford Crew Cab?
I was kind of shocked when I compared the two trucks interior specs. I could have sworn the Mega Cab offered greater seating dimensions? Please excuse formatting issue. I could not figure out, how to fix it! I had to get info from several sites. If I got it wrong please advise me! This is not a bashing competition, or mine is better than yours. Just like an informed discussion. If I got it wrong tell me. As I said, I was convinced the MEGA cab had more space! I also realize, more than one seat layout exists! Please note: I am a big Chysler fan. Own 2 SRT8's and 2014 Jeep Overland!

The ram mega cab will have rear seats that recline, and will also fold flat to floor. I looked at both ford, dodge and Chevy before purchase. Dodge was the only one that folded flat down so my retriever could ride in the back. Plus with seats down, there is tons of room.
Good choices for either for what fits your needs. I wanted 4:10 rear end plus 850 ft lbs torque, and exhaust brake I could turn on when I needed.

As your specs show, the Ram has more legroom, plus another area of room behind the seats.

Anyone who's ridden in the rear of ours thinks it's got the room of a limo (might be the heated seats), but the real reason we bought it is that when the seats are down you have a whole covered short bed pickup back there. In our case we have one of those octagon shaped outdoor playpens that we unfold back there for the cats when we are traveling and still have plenty of room for other stuff. When the seats are up there is plenty of room under the seats for storage, but behind the seats there are two storage compartments and a ton of space above them that doesn't even show when the seats are up.

My dogs are mad at me.... I wanted the Laramie with the Alpine stereo system. I don't got the lay flat floor because of the woofer..... oh well my 2 dogs have doggy car seats anyways lol lol for real they do lol lol.... I only have the crew cab which is a mega cab wannabe. It has all the leg room but the seats do not recline. Like Dicks I hope the heated seats will distract any passengers from complaining about not being able to recline.

My 08 has a great cargo platform that folds out in back with the seats folded up. However, Ford did away with it and installed a locking trunk under the rear seat. I'd rather have the flat platform, so I guess I'll have to keep the 08 forever....

I don't have a dog, and even if I did I probably would not base a $60,000 buying decision on an animals comfort while traveling, but that's just me. To determine driving comfort you would almost have to get the dealer to let you have one for a day to compare. I am only 6'1"/240 but my last two Ford seats were like sitting in a recliner at home for me. Never really looked at the Ram.

I am 5'9", about 170 lbs, therefore the long bed is the priority to me since all brands of suitable trucks have ample room for me and even for my BILs who average 6 ft and about 240 or more lbs. I didn't want to mess with a short bed, slider, etc. and I think not having the slider will not work with my fiver.
In the chart I see that the Megacab only has more room in the front seat headroom and the rear seat legroom, all else Ford is better. But if the Megacab ever gets a long bed, there's a potential winner.

Guess I am slow Scott? Not sure what your alluding too? I found my perception of space was incorrect. I felt I was being cheated without the mega cab. I truley tried to buy a Ram 3500 or 4500 chassis truck, , but the " ordering" was difficult to say the very least. I tried to add an option and something else was cut. I even flew to Texas and met a guy who builds a long bed Mega Cab. That too had it's share of issues. My point of the post was to say, in my opinion, the cabs are not that different. Several people added what they like about their trucks and I think that's great. No hidden agenda here! Lol.

Look, your dogs deserve better! Get them an aftermarket "dual headrest LCD TVs"!. Then buy CDs of animal planet! That's what I did! The problem is my Mt Dog refuses to use his headphones?

Ok, confession time. When we bought our truck, we considered Ford and Ram. I am a Ford truck guy. Cars either a Honda or Toyota.
So we go shopping, we being wife and her 5lb Maltize LAP dog. Wife is short. When Lynda got into the Ford she found that in front of her seat is a bump/hump which causes her left leg to be higher than the right. Not having a flat lap is a issue.
So we go look at the RAM. Ah, no bump/hump. Lap is flat. See sig.

LOL LOL That's funny cause this truck does have a DVD player for the backseat. But I have a poodle that does watch TV. For real he will sit and watch TV for hours lol lol ... He goes nuts when animals come on the TV as well as football. There are certain commercials he hates and runs in circles lol lol. I threatened to tape off a bunch of animal planet shows and put thim on for him. Wife says that would not be nice cause he'll go nutso in the back seat lol lol....

I would recommend a careful comparison of the suspension, particularly the front end.

I think I am going with the Ford because of the power folding side mirrors and the way the vents work. The trucks are that close mechanically.
