GPS--new Polaroid brand
Question: Is anyone familiar with the Polaroid brand of GPS??? I saw one at Target the other day, and it has a 5.6 inch screen. The screen size is great, so much better than the small 3" or so ones, but I am not familiar with this brand. Thought I would ask you all, and hope someone knows something about it. It is pretty reasonably priced, especially for a screen of that size.--Thanks in advance
Ronni
Happy Thanksgiving to all--may you all be blessed with many things to be thankful for.

Hi Mike and Ronni,
I'm not familiar with the product but I'll take a look. I do have a Polaroid TV, DVD combo player, tuner. It works great. Screen size is about 9 inches. Quality is outstanding! What is the price on the unit?
Happy Thanksgiving,
Dennis and Mary Kay

I went with the Garmin 7200 because of the bigger screen size. But the price reflexs that screen size also. The Polaroid sounds like a nice other option if you like to have a bigger screen.I really don`t believe their is a big difference in any of the GPS`s that I have seen. They all do just about the same thing.

Ronni, I haven't seen that GPS. I went with the Lowrance iWay500c because of the bigger 5" screen. It has worked good for us. I think you can get them for around $500 now.

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply to all of you who were so nice to take time from your Holiday preparations to reply to me. I got bogged down with preparing for 20 people and 12 out-of-towners. Hamrad, in reply to your question about price, I think it was $499--check it out at Target by us on Rosedale Hwy, & give me your opinion. Thanks to all. Maybe they will become prominent on the market with a screen sixe like that and a good price too.

Ronni,
Found this site that offers a pretty good comparison of GPS units
http://www.gpsreview.net/polaroid-gps-plays-dvds/
One concern I would have of purchasing a GPS unit that wasn't from one of the top competitors would be the software used by this unit. If its proprietary I would want to know that it can be kept current as routes an maps change.

Hey 315RLS--Thanks for the info on the software; I hadn't thought about it. I am new to the GPS search. Thanks too for the website for comparisons--I will look at it. Hopefully, the prices will come down on the larger screens while I am taking my time researching.

I am using the gps program from micro-soft witch plugs into your laptop,so far it seems to be working great. It comes with micro-soft street & trips, has verbal commands, re-routes you if you go off coarse, has a lot of good features.and the good part it cost just over a $100.00.
