Garmin BC 30 Wireless Backup Camera Install

I bought a Garmin BC 30 wireless backup camera to use with my Garmin RV 770 GPS display.

I want to install this on the back of my RV. It has a 45-feet transmit range, plus there's a 50-foot extension cable so you can run the wireless transmitter all the way to the nose of the RV if needed.

Has anyone done this Garmin BC 30 install?

I was thinking of pulling the center running light, and replacing it with the camera and using the power going to the light. This means I have to have the RV running lights on to use the camera, which I do anyway. It also means that I will have the camera always-on, not just when backing up, which is something I also want. The Garmin RV 770 has a menu selection to view the camera when it's always on. I think this would be helpful to get situational awareness while on the highway.

Would putting the backup camera where the center running light is and using the running light power work? Is it a good or bad idea?

I had that camera installed in the spot where you want to place yours. I also ran the transmitter towards the front of the fifth wheel. The cable went down the back, under the bottom then up above the front storage compartment. I made a bracket that attached to the back of the light then ran the wire through a hole in the bottom of the light. My goal was not to put any holes in the fiberglass.

The camera works OK, The Furrion on my new fifth wheel is much better.

I used the center light for my power source, that way you can turn it on from the drivers seat. The furrion is also powered by the running lights.
