New 2023 and questions about bill of sale

Ok, I am buying a new 2023 Chevy 3500 and they
sent me the window sticker so I gave them my credit card
to put $1000. to hold it. Then I get a different sales person who
sent me the bill of sale and there were all these add ons.
I want to know what of these are BS.
I think I have added them but if I didn't I will try again. The
sticker price was 68,645 and then he added on over
$2000. worth of stuff. I understand that I need to pay tax, but
do I really need to pay for the others? Thank you in
advance.

Lynne,

Those are not unusual add-ons but it is part of the tactic to get more money from you. The total price is what is important and should have been discussed prior to sending a deposit. You can proceed with buying the truck at the price they gave you, work to renegotiate or walk away to find a better deal.

What is “non tax fees $1029” ?
The rest of the line items look ok to me.
The Doc Fee is what they charge to get you registered for license plates and $489 is not bad. We would all like for it to be $100 but it varies by dealership and state. I am told it can be $1100 in FL.
I assume you requested the pulse brake lights.

I would recommend you have a discussion with the sales manager and see if you can negotiate that down. I have never paid the full MRSP reflected on the vehicle.

A while back(during the height of the chip shortage) in the medium size town I live in a dealer had advertised SUVs for $5000 over sticker. Finder fee they said.

I'm 70+ and I've been buying NEW trucks since 1976 when I bought my first NEW vehicle. I have never paid FULL sticker price let alone OVER sticker.

My final buying price was always lower than the SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE ON THE STICKER

On my latest truck, 2019 Chevrolet 3500HD Duramax, the discount off the sticker was more than I paid for my first truck in 76.

Myself I think you should reconsider and find a better deal than that.

Just purchased a 2023 Silverado 2500HD. I live in NJ, first good luck finding a truck. Some 2023 models arriving toward the end of this month and into Feb. Every dealer wanted 5-15% over list. I could not find the truck I wanted and the pricing for used trucks were 20% over list when they were new.

It's not a buyers market right now, if you need a truck and can find one that fits your needs good luck!

I know its not close to you but Chevy dealer 25 miles from me has 8 3500s, gas range between $55-62000. Duramax $67 to 85000. They have four each. They have six or seven dealerships and this is just at one. New trucks might be scarce but they are out there.

Also there will always be dealer add ons such as prep and such but there is always room to dicker for the best price.

In this section if Ohio within a 50 mile radius of me is probably a dozen or so GM dealers, same for Ford or Ram. If one won't deal the next one will. I can't deal with the dealer in my town but 25 miles up the road they will.

Then just tell them you didn't ask for them, you don't want them, and your are not going to pay for them.

The general sales manager at our Ford and Mazda dealer, a friend told me he sold cars last year that the buyer took down the street and sold them for $5000 more than they paid after sales tax.
I’d like to have a new F150 but I couldn’t sell my 2018 for what I consider a fair price for the buyer. I’ll just wait for prices to come down for new and used. The problem with that is one of the biggest manufacturers of aluminum says they will run of aluminum in 2024.

I'd ask about the document fee - does it include license? I think when I bought my last car/truck it was strickly for there documentation -no license.

Doc fee - my experience is they fill out the papers to register your vehicle with county/state. License plates always seem to have been returned to dealer who can mail them to you or let you pick them up.

I was under the impression that the price of any dealer add-on’s (tint, clearshield, and pulse brake lights) had to be clearly posted on the vehicle. If you weren’t made aware of the add-on’s before negotiating your buying price you should demand that they don’t charge you for them or refund your deposit.
By the way, I have read that pulsating brake lights may be illegal in some states.

I can't get to a copy of the window sticker that is in focus so I can't look at the detail there. I did notice a $549 charge for a pulsing brake light. Typically, this is the 3rd brake light mounted high on the back of the cab. If you are towing, no one will see it. Not an item I can justify the cost of.

I see you are shopping an invoice from a dealer in Mesa in Mesa AZ. May I suggest you contact Todd Nielson at Henry Brown GMC in San Tan Village. Todd is honest and has always offered a price that was lowest, without any haggling. Their parking lot was full of new truck arrivals as of last week. Todd has been our family go to guy for 2 decades. I'd also advise you to price out a duramax model. I couldn't tell from the small window sticker if the truck you made a deposit on had that power train. Personally I prefer the looks of the GMC front end. Always go with the 3500 truck!
