Beading, Peyote

My Sue is a very crafty lady, patient and talented.
She does many, many projects, I took a picture of her today beading small Christmas trees for a bracelet.
Thought I would share.

Boy...it's a good thing someone has good eyes...no way could I do something like that...and she's loaded for bear too...

I keep asking her if I can get her those goggle do dads that jewelers wear, but she says she sees the tiny beads Ok.
It's great she has her hobbies on the road.

Very nice, Sue. Beading is such a great hobby to take on the road as it doesn't take up a lot of room. I make earrings and have made some Angels out of beads. All my stuff fits in one of the chairs with my main case under the bed.

She is now making a blanket it's called Swedish Weave, I think. it looks complicated, but she just dives in there.

Wow, that is really nice! Does she make them free hand? I seem to remember back in the "day" when I belonged to I think it was "bluebirds", we made Indian head bands similar to the picture, but we used a Loom of sorts. Does she use those? I always wanted to get back into that but....like you said, Beading takes a lot of talent and patience! And that come in short supply for me.

Joy, she does do it free hand, Sue has to have a supply of patience, she is married to the Ozz man!

So, Sue, did you "self teach" on the Swedish weave or take a class? This has really become popular in the last year or so. I see classes all over. Two of my great grandmothers did Swedish weave (also called Huck Weave or Huck Embroidery). One made blankets or lap robes. Actually she called them "car robes" from the time when the old cars were open and you had to bundle up to keep warm. Just a bit of trivia that will be lost to the future generations. My other Grandma did the finer Swedish Weave and made towels, dresser scarfs, etc. She also did tatting and cutwork. I want to make some pillows for the sofa in the Monty. But I will have to get a how to book. Grandma taught me when I was about 8 - so long ago and CRS got in the way. On the finer kind you use embroidery thread or heavy crochet thread instead of yarn. It is really pretty. Show us your finished project when done.

Interesting!, Sue said she had done Huck toweling, she made her Gram-ma something long, long ago.
She is taking lessons, but knowing Sue, to quote a movie-loosely, "Grasshopper, once a student, now a master"
OK extremely loosely........
She has already expanded on the lesson of one row of Hemstitch edges, she went Three rows, when they had one in the lesson plan.
She is using yarn for the weaving, from Waly World.
She said to tell you hi! We are still waiting for the picture of your daughter to compare.

Jim and Sue, Sent you an email with picture. Swedish weave, BTW, is perfect for my Native American designs. I'm going to try something with a large weave first like 7 to see if I remember anything at all.

Sue, love the beading, am anxious to try it myself. Have the beads, just not the know how. Looking for someone here to give me a hand in learning, so far all I have are lopsided chains.....
