Schwintek Slide Question

A friend is at Quartzsite with the circling of the Montanas. He has an issue with the bedroom slide. It is the Schwintek system (2021 3230CK). The slide goes out fine. When bringing the slide in, the last inch or two the bottom on one side does not seal. He has done the recalibration procedure. By pushing it in he can get it to go. I suspect a weak motor on that side. Has anyone else had this and solved it? He will get it into Affinity in a month for other work, but if there is a simple solution he would do it.

It sounds like it's out of alignment. If he has done the recommended sync process and it isn't corrected I suspect a mechanical failure. Mine failed in a bad way. It had to be completely rebuilt and components replaced. Broken shoe, broken gear and channel. Schwintek had a repair bulletin addressing the matter.

See attached. Hope y'all are having fun.

Rich, we have had a 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2021 Montana over the last 19 years. We have been members of the MOC the whole time. Thanks to good dealer selection and support from the members here, and attending rallies we have had a great user experience. Have we had issues? Yes, but they have been relatively minor and a great dealer makes a huge difference. As an example, the technician prepping our current unit for delivery troubleshot an AC issue and founder a jumper on the control board on the roof only on one of the two pins. We have Super Solar (1200i) and had a few issues, but the company that provides it to Keystone was very helpful. If I was in the market, I wouldn’t hesitate to order a new Montana - from Leach Camper in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The dealer makes the difference.

Your 2006 had issues as well in the beginning. 17 years later the bugs have been worked out. Unfortunately a trailer isn't built like a car. It's mass produced as fast as possible with minimal oversite. Some have more issues then others. It typically takes 6 months to work them out. My first new unit was a 2018. It had a lot of issues. The major was all windows and the roof replaced. My 2022 has been much better. Had to have the bedroom slide rebuilt along with a bunch of smaller items but all in all a much better experience then the 2018 lightweight Cougar.

I loved my 2005 2955. Yes, it had a few problems initially but those were worked out and it was fine thereafter (7 years). Our current 2012 had more issues, some major, and they were finally resolved. But frame flex got us last year so there is always a new problem ahead. It is just the nature of the beast.
