I'm not sure if it has been announced on the forum yet, but, on Veterans Day 2022 the National Park Service announced that veterans are now eligible for the Military Lifetime Pass. Previously, this was only available to retirees. If you are a veteran, you can get this instead of the $80 Senior Lifetime Pass. All you have to do, is show up at a national park with your Veterans Identification Card. Check the website to see which national parks have them available. I'd call before going; I got mine today at Mesa Verde and they said they just received them yesterday.

If you are a veteran, you should get a Veterans Identification Card from the VA. You can use it wherever military discounts apply. The application can be completed on-line. They used to issue physical cards, but it appears they have moved to a "digital card".
