Rear Kitchen Counter Problem

On our '05 Mountaineer rear kitchen the counter top is warping up.
It is the section that is between the kitchen and the living room on the open end of the counter.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and suggested cures.

I was thinking about a heavy bead of silicone under the counter top and the cabinet and place a heavy object on top until it sets up.

Thanks

Ray

Ray, if the countertop material has separated from the wood of the cabinet, I believe contact cement made for that purpose is your best choice. Also, it will have to be a very heavy object to apply enough pressure. Clamps, if you have them available would be a better option. I also have a Mountaineer with a rear kitchen, but have not had any issues with the countertop to date. Hope this helps. Jim

Jim, on ours the counter extends past the cabinet about four inches and appears that the counter is loose about three inches onto the cabinet. It looks like they used a small nail strip to hold the counter top in place.

I am thinking about using liquid nails and then turning our dining table upside down and using it for the weight. Can you see any drawbacks to this that I might be missing.

Thanks Ray
