Anybody use a dog ramp?

Murphy tore his ACL. Surgery on Tuesday. Several camping trips planned. Looking for something I can use for the trailer and our bed. Yes he's allowed

We bought a folding Weather Tech ramp for our Golden Retriever.

We used a Petstep folding ramp to get our aging Goldens in/out of our truck and trailer. Including one that had TPLO surgery to repair a torn ligament and another with bad hips. Initially I bought a telescoping ramp. But it had a thin carpet like surface that was somewhat slick and our girl didn’t like it. The Petstep has a much better molded rubberized surface and more stable overall. All our Goldens used it with no problem.

We bought a ramp for our aging English shepherd in 2008 but frankly we rarely used it. By 2017 one of our border collies needed the ramp. I eventually had her wearing a harness to help her get into the truck and the RV. I thought I had more photos but the one below is the only one I could find. Gus was 2 at the time and he did not need the ramp! The ramp took up half of the entry steps so Debbie and I had to be careful exiting the RV. We bought this one from petsmart and it extends to fit then situation. I have seen newer ramps that are skinnier than ours…skinny would be better.

Tony,

Assume your pup is having TPLO surgery. My pup had a few weeks of PT after surgery. The second rear leg blew out about a year later.

I bought a folding ramp from Chewy and use a "stramp" at the end on the ground to give it some lift so the angle into the door isn't so steep. The "stramp" is a step/ramp that is about 6 inches at the low end and 12 inches at the high end.
We have 2 English Bulldogs and the smaller only has about 3 inch legs so she's dragging her transmission everywhere she goes.

We have a rough tough hunting hound a PBGV so I lift him in and out when he is too lazy to get in or out by himself.

Many years ago, our Lab tore his ACL. They gave us a sling that went around his belly that we helped him around with. As soon as he healed, he was good as new. We had the TPLO surgery. He would not have been able to use a ramp. We had to use the sling per University of Illinois clinic.

We used a belly sling in addition to the ramp after our Golden had TPLO surgery. The sling took most all the weight off the hind legs until she healed from surgery. After healing we continued the ramp alone so she did not have to jump to get up the stairs. And at her being 80+ lbs, it also saved my back.

We bought and used the Weathertech ramp for our elderly Beagle. Had to do some training to get her to use the ramp, but, once she got the hang of it it worked great! We used Cheetos laid up the ramp to entice her to walk up the ramp 😀

Yep, same problem here. We invested in an extendable ramp from PetSafe. We use it for the camper AND for getting her in the back seat of the truck

Tony, how did Murphy’s surgery turn out? Hope everything is healing well.
