Ceiling Fan Replacement

Has anybody found a good ceiling hugger fan that can be used in the living room of a 323RL that actually moves air well and yet is close to the ceiling? The OEM fan is useless. It moves no air and looks terrible.

Is this a 12 volt DC fan or a 120 volt AC fan? If itís 12 volts, you may be very limited on whatís available. It would help knowing what year your rig is.

It's a 120 volt fan in a 2011 323RL

A hugger mount fan that moves a lot of air is an oxymoron; the more air the fan can get behind it the more air it will move. Obviously you have no option other than a hugger that would withstand the rigors of travel.

It's impossible to make a specific recommendation without knowing what the maximum size that will fit with the slides retracted. There are a number of fans in the 42" diameter size if that would fit. If the fan will clear the slides vertically, you could maybe go with a larger diameter model. If you don't necessarily need the light kit a model without a light kit would give a little more vertical clearance if it that would help. About the only improvement you could make is going to a 5 blade if you presently have a 4 blade. The blade pitch will help a bit too; the Hunter brand fans have a slightly more aggressive pitch. They are 13 degrees most others are 11-12 degrees.

You might try this fan from Home Depot: Hugger 52 in. LED Indoor Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan with Light Kit
Someone on another Forum claims to have installed this fan.

This thread got me thinking about upgrading the ceiling fan in my rig; I did just that today. My 2017 3661 model came with a36" 4 blade model with a light kit; we never used the light. I bought a Minka Aire F566 which is a 42" 5 blade model.

I measured air velocity with my anemometer on the original fan and again on the new one. The original measured 155ft/min and the new one measured 380 ft/min which is nearly 2.5X the velocity.

I really like Minka fans and have several in my house. This is a well made unit; the motor mounts to the ceiling bracket on 4 ea 1/4" studs and had nylock nuts included to attach with. It's well balanced and quiet. They make a 52" model in this style for only about $10 more. I was hesitant to install a 52" because of the flexing the blades would take while traveling a bumpy road, although it might not be an issue.

Thanks for posting this. Replacing the pathetic factory ceiling fan is on my to do list!

We have a MinkaAire Artemis XL5 5 Blade 62" in our living room and a smaller 3 blade in the kitchen. The one in the living room runs all the time winter and summer. They are nice fans. One of the nicest things about then is they are remote controlled so all you need is a 120 volt wire to them no fancy wiring required. I would highly recommend them.
