CA RV License Requirements dl648.pdf Page 12 is where to look.

This basically is an additional written test. There is no skills test (no on the road driving required). Most HCs can get away with this. If you have a regular Montana then it is over 15K and you are required to have a Non-Commercial Class A license. That one is more difficult only because of CA's alley docking component.
