How about a Montana 305RL High Country thread?

Hi,

somehow I miss model or floorplan specific subforms or threads.
Not every idea or modification fits all Montana's.
As the 305rl is said to be the most popular floorpan how to start here

Here is our list what we fixed and added so long:

- Sailun Tires
- Moryde Hitch
- CH751 locks replaced
- Entrance Door cut on top and adjusted
- Fender Screws fixed with Silicon
- driver side fender added alloy angle brackets to stop flattering
- replaced hitch mirror
- added vent covers
- damper and motion light in cabinet above microwave
- spring to close switch board door
- light in front storage compartment
- replace thetford toilet with dometic 320
- replace tv speaker
- added subwover
- victron battery monitor
- victron mppt solar charger
- 100W mobile solar modules
- 200ah lithium batteries
- xantrex freedom inverter charger
- under belly led strips
- dinking water filter under sink
- Tailgate BBQ Freedom grill

planed projects:
- counter top extension foldable
- LED tail lights and positions lights
- replace mattress

Our slides have the greasing issue and will be fixed in a few weeks.

What are your projects, upgrades and extensions?

cheers Mike

Bought our 305RL in Feb. 2019.
Under warranty : replaced fireplace.....replaced
door lock ( while tightening up lose screws the head
broke off inside the lock.
Things I did myself: clothes rod and shelf in bedroom
pulled away from the wall. Added three support poles between
the shelf and floor, screwed the shelf back together. Simple fix.
(If the dealer had put it back to original condition we would
still have the same problem)
Added Sailun tires
In process of installing weboost. Undecided on where to bring
cable into unit. Through the roof, through the side, or from underneath
the coach. Punching holes in this thing is not my idea of a good time.

Why not a High Country sub forum. There are a dozen or more models over the years.

Here are a few more of many mods for others to consider that I've done to our 343RL:

- disc brakes (best 1500 buck mod to an towable RV)

- wet bolts and 9/16 u-bolts and 1 step heavier springs
- Fabulous Operating Products stove vent fan (actually works)

- 2nd a/c with strip heater

- slide toppers
- reduced height mattress platform so I wont bash my head

- stair rail over rebuilt and closer to even height step risers

- a kitchen sink faucet that doesn't leak
- individually switched LED pancake lights
- ARP fridge control
- added fridge fans
- added shelves to kitchen cabinets

I have put a strip Gorila Clear Tape around the wood of the cabinet.
The tape holds well now for nearly a year.

here is one thread to this topic with other solutions too

Hi,

as requested on pn here my Battery Inverter/Converter Install.
We did not do Solar on the roof yet as we don't plan extensive Boondocking.
Its more an Emergency or Over-Night Solution.

We have a 2017 305RL, and friends of ours have the same model and year. Theirs was built a few months before ours, and there are a few minor differences. The problems they have had with their unit are totally different than the ones we have had. You are always going to have some kind of problems with any new trailer, this is a given.

The only thing we have both had issues with is the the roller blinds. Ascot Enterprises sent us new parts so we could fix the blinds ourselves. We got some extra pieces if and when we should have problems down the road.

So far, we really like our trailer. We have been to Florida twice with it, and also taken a trip out west, so it has seen a few miles in two and a half years!

I’m up for a 305RL HC thread!

We just bought a 2016 305 RL and are waiting title transfer so we can take it out for our first trip. So far, we have replaced the mattress and kitchen sink (crack in corner) and the kitchen faucet. I’ve been busy changing out light bulbs with LED bulbs where they were not working. Preserved and painted the forward compartment. Can’t get the docking light to work for some reason. Changed bulbs. Looking to make a modification to the drink holders in between the recliners because they are so small.

We bought drink holder inserts from Amazon.

Wow, love the idea of a specific 305rl site or thread! We have done a lot of the modifications you all have and have had a lot of the same problems. its nice to read and share these issues. one issue i might add that i have not seen is the followings; While repacking the wheel bearings i pulled the first wheel and drum off to discover that the small clip on the spindle that holds the wires to the brake magnet dislodged allowing the wires to rub against the drum as it rotates. Both wires were almost rubbed thru the insulation and about to short out. Please check yours as this is a major issue. good luck to all and keep the 305rl thread going

The High Country 380/381TH owners created a Facebook page and it is very popular BUT that floor plan really is totally unique and unusual as it is a hybrid toy hauler with a basement garage (IE: true two story).

But any popular model should get interest.

  • Added a couple shelves in the kitchen
  • Replaced mattress
  • Replaced Pantry motion sensor light with motion sensing light strips around the inside of the door. Now good light to the whole pantry.
  • Removed panel above pantry and installed matching cabinet door. Put a shelf inside just above existing pantry door. Now have added storage. Put separate light strips around the new door as well
  • Added small bungee to "door of death" to self close

Stay in Shelter Order - what better time to takle the SeeLevel Project

So, I never did something similar nor did I know what I am doing.
I took my time to be careful to this underbelly cutting.
Overall I needed 8hrs.

But its worth it

If anyone is wondering how the tanks in the 305RL look like I searched for them as spare part to obtain shape and measurement.

Freshwater Tank:

Galley Tank:

Black Tank:

Grey Tank:

Black and Grey Tank have basically the same shape for the SeeLevel Sensor.

I installed the Garnet SeeLevel II 709-4 System

For anyone with time for this install, there are rumors that also this product line will come with some Bluetooth functionality soon.

I relocated the Battery Monitor to fit in the new Tank Monitor control panel.
If someone still enjoys inaccurate readings he is free to use the old OEM system which stayed in place.

Great job.

I did similar on our long gone Glendale Titanium 28/33 5er. Everything was fine until I dropped the belly cover and found that the manufacturer used different tanks then what they told me. It wasn't a big deal though It took me the best part of a day to do that one.

And it STILL hasn't warmed up here with a bit of snow this morning

Tank replacement

Did you install all new piping and valves as well? It would be nice if the kitchen tank valve operator could be routed to inside the pass thru compartment where the others are located.
