Diesel prices

Filled up at the Shell station I normally go to. Diesel was $3.59, but $3.49 with my Rewards card discount. Regular gas was also $3.59. So for the first time in a long time I got diesel cheaper than the posted regular gas price.

Now the down side. For some reason Shell gasoline (but not diesel) has gone up more than other brands in the area. Other brand stations are selling regular for the $3.45 - $3.55 range. So the Shell diesel vs reg price is a little misleading.

But I can still say I got diesel cheaper than regular. And diesel was as much as 60 cents higher than regular just a few months ago.

It's getting close down here in central Texas, 3.35 for gas and 3.55 for diesel...

Noticed the same thing at a Flying J in New Mexico. Once I got my discount I was very close to regular in price.

It's running about 30 cents higher than regular in Northern VA - 3.69 to 3.89. Only place I've seen where diesel and regular were the same price was Michigan, where they don't have ethanol added. Interesting how much better mileage one gets on non-ethanol gas - makes the price difference totally moot.

Boy, I'd be tickled silly if I could buy diesel under $4.09 around here!! Guess we need to hook up head somewhere where it's cheaper.

We recently had a big bump here, averaging about $4.07. Did see some for $3.79, but it turned out to be bio. Anyone use that stuff?

Walt, fuel mileage dropped about 10% on Bio diesel, but food bill went up. Exhaust smelled like some frying taters

Back when Willie had his truck stop and Bio refinery, I ran a couple of tanks of Bio thru my truck. Didn't notice a big difference. Word was it will clean out your fuel system.

Unleaded jumped 20 cents yesterday $3.55.9 up here in Omaha but the diesel is still holding at $3.79.9 to $3.85.9. About fell out of the car when we saw the price jump on the unleaded. When we left home in the morning it was $3.35 and when we came back from shopping every station along the way had jumped to $3.55. That is nuts! Just think what the owners paid for those tankfuls of fuel and then jumped the prices.

If you are passing thru Northeast PA, hold on to your wallet. It actually went down 2 cents since we left for Florida 3 weeks ago (with the car). $4.179 is about the cheapest, $4.159 if you pay cash.

Have used bio diesel quite often and don't really notice much difference. The B-20 is running 40 to 50 cents lower than the real diesel around Fresno, CA. Have gotten it several times at the truck stop at the north end of Fresno on the east side of Hwy 99. Truck seems to have just as much power. Diesel around the area is running $4.09 to $4.19.

Paid $3.89/gallon here in Billings. Other stations are up to $3.99. We are close to the Bakken were the price per Diesel is averaging $4.18/gallon. Some guys commute from Billings and have the auxiliary tank in the bed so they don't have to pay the higher price. Looks like we will be paying over $4/gallon this summer.
