Just for you folks up north.

Winter showed up in Arizona today and for those of you wishing you were here, this is one day you might as well have stayed at home. 48 degrees and a bunch of rain (snow in the mountains). Still interesting views of the mountains as well as a Raven having another bird for lunch. Here you go: http://s1221.photobucket.com/albums/...ter%20in%20AZ/

We're at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. It's located on Hwy 60 between Gold Canyon and Superior, AZ. Once you pass Superior you go thru the mountains and end up in Globe.

These were taken at Voyager RV park in Tucson in January 2011:

We had a cold week with about three nights below freezing. There were some busted water pipes in the park and throughout Tucson.

Sorry to hear about your temp as ours was 77 & sunny in Fl. Your pics more than make up for the cool weather.

Yes, it was actually fun to see the mountains in the clouds, but doing a tour (over 1.5 hours) today in the rain wasn't a lot of fun. I am glad that we didn't see snow like Dave and Ivy. Sun comes back tomorrow so the fun will begin again. The one thing that was interesting on the tour today was seeing the number of plants putting leaves back out and brown ones going all green again.

Sounds like the rain is needed in the desert area. We were in Az North Rim Grand Canyon 08 and 10. Just now calling tommarrow to see if we can return for another season.

You're right about this being another drought area. Even though we got about 2" we're still a bunch of inches short for the year.

I'm trying to think here, I know--dangerous. Anyhow are you anywheres near Pie Town there on Highway 60? I stopped at the store/post office/ station/deli there in Pie Town, and they had a 22 or 23 ft rattlesnake skin on the wall, that was killed there in the mountains years ago. Also somewhere along that road there was a place with huge satellite dishes on railroad rails, that measure the gas pressures of Solar Systems. Its been years since I was there, but remember a little about it. Are you near that also? Happy Trails, Steve an Susie

Must be no one knows anything about Pie Town, or the huge satellite dishes neat it in 'Arizona. I thought sure someone would have remembered or been there. Happy Trails, Steve and Susie

Actually Pie Town (great pies) and the Large Array are in New Mexico. We went home that way a number of years ago from a meeting in Tucson. Great drive in a car, but I'll take a pass on hauling the Monty thru the Salt River Canyon.

I know. Our nearest neighbors are from a Seattle suburb and keep us informed on the weather up there. I'm not sure if I'm hearing them right, but it always sounds like their saying more rain.

Ahhhhhhh, DQDick you are so right. Finally curiosity got the best of me and I had to get the atlas out. When I went thru there it was after I had left ShoLow, AZ and couldn't remember if Pie Town was still in AR or NM. Thanks for the tip. that trip was after a Friends Family member had passed away, and I took the motor home out there, then ended up pulling her Mothers car from ShoLow to the UP of Michigan. Long trip, but was a nice one. Happy Trails, Steve and Susie
