fix or replace or both??

When I check my Monty's tires I see that the rear driver side trailer tire is wearing more on the inside than all 3 others tires. I have 25,000 miles on these G614s. If I take the Monty in to someone, can they fixed this without causing other alignment problems? One option is to buy 1 new g614 and keep going. I know I'll need the tire replaced, but can I expect to have this one wheel fixed?

Also when replacing the tires, can I just replace the one G614 with a Sailum S637?

I would assume that if the front axle's tires are fine, I could replace the rear axle's tires with Sailum S637's??

I just replaced a 7 year old set of g614s with the sailun s637s. The sailuns are slightly taller so I would mix them. Get your trailer to a semi truck repair place to have the axles aligned. Weigh you trailer to make sure it is within all its weigh limits.

Uneven wear on only one tire may be an early sign of a separation. I would have a tire shop look at it. Yeah, I know they sell tires and may tell you its a separation in order to sell some. Yet you have to trust someone.

I'm stopping by Mo Trailer in Goshen to have them look at the axle to see what they say. Then I'll make a decision.

Another cause of uneven wear on one tire may be the shackle has inverted on that particular axle and wheel.
Make sure that the shackles are positioned like this and definitely make sure the one for the affected tire is not inverted. It can happen by simply dropping the tire off the pavement or a low spot while slowly moving.

The guy at MoTrailer in Goshen looked at the axle and said that he didn't see anything obviously wrong. But something small could cause a problem after 25,000 miles. Replacing the axle would be $700+ and no guaranty that it wouldn't happen again. It's not precise like an independent suspension alignment. He and a number of other knowledgeable folks have said that it's cheaper to just keep putting new tires on every 25,000 miles. I probably could get another 5000 out of the ones that are the worse. But since I have 5 rallies to go to next year, I'm going to replace the rear axle's tires with Sailun S637 and keep on rolling. I can put 4 Sailun on for the price of an axle.

No indication of bearing problems. Hub temp are consistent.

Last month a friend showed up at the campground with the left rear tire wearing out on the inside edge of his SOB travel trailer. We jacked up that side of his trailer and the bearings on that wheel were a bit loose. He didn't want me to pull the wheel off to tighten the bearings in case there was something else wrong. He took the trailer to the local RV dealer 2 miles away the next day and they found that the cotter key had broken and fell out of place causing the locking nut to loosen off a bit resulting in the uneven tire wear.
