I use the plate but also lubricate with a white grease spray. My hitch (curt) also has several zerk fittings for lubricating the hitch as well.

I would put some grease on the King Pin and the hitch Jaws as those are metal on metal contact areas.

I would spray a little lithium grease on the jaws every now and then and also on the rollers of my slider along with any other moving parts, but not really enough to leave the king pin greasy. Now with my Andersen I don’t use anything
By the way, I spent about 40 years in trucking and never saw a single time that the mechanics put grease on the kingpin or jaws. Of course they slopped enough on the 5th wheel plate to make everything a dirty mess

The manual for my hitch had lubrication recommendations. What does your manual say to libe?

I use the Reese white grease, on my plate and in the jaws

The whole idea behind the lube plate is to eliminate having to use grease on the top of the hitch and the bottom of the pin box. I don’t know why anyone would want to add grease to a lubeplate!

I dont put grease on anything. I have the B&W so no grease is needed. I do use the Teflon disk between the hitch and the pin box.

Your B&W has a grease zerk and they recommend lubing the jaws.

I put a thin layer of grease on the king pin. Also lube the jaws and mechanisms working the jaws. Shoot a little in the zerk under the hitch as well. Just remember where there’s metal on metal lubrication is needed.

Go with whatever your hitch manufacturer recommends. I have a Curt and there is no mention of lubricating the inside of the jaws or the king pin. Yes there is metal-to-metal contact but i don't think a thin layer of grease is going to help anything, other than making a mess.

I have a lubedisk but also use spray lithium grease on the hitch skid plate to make it easier for the pin box to slide up the ramp. I also lube the pin and jaws with white lithium spray. I have the Ford OEM puck hitch made by Reese.
