Carl Youngren was thoughtful enough to post on this unit in the past. It may be worthwhile for you to read this thread and his and other's thoughts:

"There was a long thread (30+ pages or so) about the infamous remote control, its shortcomings, and (most important) how to replace it (including pictures) with the CCC model. A search of the archive should find it. I will try and locate it but it won't be tonight.

on edit: try this url
http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...control,center

It will be invaluable when you finally go ahead and make the change."

Hope this helps, it sounds like at the least you will need to contact Dometic customer support, simply because of the age of the unit.

for now,pull any fuses either 12v or 110v and let the system reset. see if that works. After it does get going, call dometic for the new style wired system. you have been very lucky to get that many years on that system. good luck. Bingo is correct, long thread on that system,many,many problems

Been working great I knew it was always 6 degrees off never bothered me. I even got five years out of stock Tacoma tires and seven years out of original battery. #128077;

Sounds like your run of exceptional luck has come to "Parade Rest". Like mentioned the thread you've been pointed to pretty much sums it up. Not many of us kept the remote, so I doubt if you get many troubleshooting experiences. The remote thermo on my 05 had way more issues than being a few degrees off. I think, but I'm not sure, the telephone like wiring on your thermo limits what you can replace it with should it come to that.
