Another Heating Problem

While in Virginia and the North Carolina mountains last week I found that the heater would not come on( glad we had 2 elect heaters with us). When the thermostat is switched to furnace and the slide control is moved up to turn it on all I get is the normal click,no blower motor or anything tried it many times and gave it more than enough time to time out and come on but still nothing.Have battery voltage and shore power, both tanks are full and all other gas operated appliances work fine...Any thoughts ?

Thanks,
Philip

You might verify that you have 12 VDC and 110 VAC to the furnace. Double check your 12 VDC & 110 VAC circuit breakers.

If you don't get at least the blower motor to come on, you have no signal to the control board of the furnace. Thermostat, or PC problem. Try the A/C unit, see if it comes on, if so, the thermostat probably is OK.

Thanks for the reply Ozz.The AC comes on and works fine. The thermostat cuts if off and then back on when the temp rises,I was thinking the furnace side of the thermostat might be bad because all we get when we go to turn the heater on is the click. The click seems to come from the main AC unit.Could the board be bad thats located in the Main AC? ( is this the one you referred to) I'll keep looking and keep everyone posted.

Thanks,
Philip

Philip, try this: Turn off the power to the A/C unit at the breaker, then pull the 12 volt fuse for the furnace. This will 're-boot' the P.C. boards. I am a heating and cooling tech. I have done this many times with commercial rooftop systems and it works under certain conditions. We have tried this with the members units here as well with success. Good luck.

We have gas heat!!! thanks to all who responded.A very special thanks to "OZZ" he is the Man!!! We have been going back & forth with private emails the last 2 days and with Ozzes guidance the repair was made and all is good again.Never realized how good those funky smells from the floor vents can be.

Thanks,
