R/C helicopter
My new Helicopter arrives Monday! Hope I get to fly it a few minutes before it crashes and burns!

Maybe you should take flying lessons first!
If all else fails read the instructions.

Is this a model that one car easily afford to crash and burn, your first heli, or an upgrade from what you have been flying? A friend of mine got started last year with a Blade model mcx2, $119. and that thing has crash a hundred times and just keeps on going with a few cheap small parts replaced.

Radio controlled, outside about a foot and a half long. Caught some mice trying to get our turkey yesterday, the one that didn't' burn up I are a parachute for! He will be my test pilot! Just joking SPCA if you are monitoring.

My son in law got one last year for xmas. Of coarse did not read directions "DO NOT FLY IN HOUSE"... long story short it got hooked on the table cloth and flew through out the house creating a ruckus before it crashed and burned. He was a very sad puppy when it broke to pieces. Still a story the whole family tells and laughs about but he still does not see any humor in it! Have fun but read the instructions!

I bought a 450 / 3D 6 channel unit last year around this time. I never flew anything like this before but thought how hard could it be. Well after numerous failed landings and major repairs I gave up. I recommend beginner models and if possible some lessons to really enjoy the hobby.

I agree, from my limited knowledge of Blade models I believe the 450 is for intermediate flyers. Models such as the mcx2 and even the 120sr are more suited to the beginner flyer. That being said many people catch on to these things like it's second nature where as others not so much.
We shall see when mine arrives for Christmas, keep us posted!!!
Great thread by the way!!!

I have the 450 3D that I have not flown yet. I also have the MCPX that is smaller, can be flown indoors and outdoors, and a little more forgiven. However, before I fly either I will practice on my simulator. I had a couple helicopters of lesser cost but repairing them cost more than they are worth. One I do not have to worry about it is in a tree at Elkhart Campground. It was a small one advertised for flying indoors and outdoors. Indoors excellent but with any wind outdoors forget it lol.

Been there done that, and now on Helicoptor number 4. It sits in the closet and now has for about a year. Getting a bit shy about it now.. But its now a year old so it's made it longer than any of them :-)

It has arrived, I read all the instructions, 1 page, not very detailed, more information comes with a string of Christmas lights. Test flight will be Saturday morning so check back to see if I will be asking for loans. I know about 100 squirrels in this park that had better hide Saturday or I might be wearing a new hat by the afternoon.

yep..I crashed and burned mine pretty quick as well...seems awful complicated to replace motors and boards....the screws are so tiny and easy to drop and lose... oh well...it was a beginner model....

Oh boy... Did somebody say Helicopters???!!!!
How about a Raptor 90SE in Purple, a regular Raptor 90 in Red/Yellow, and an Evo 50.
Well... Tried to attached a pic but they dont like the hot link to it. You can see my gallery below.

I havent flown in the better part of 4 years though. I do love the hobby... even though it can break the bank if you let it!

Ren: Thanks for posting the pics of your collection(impressive), gives us beginners something to aspire to. I am amazed how many people have tried flying helis but seem to have given up fairly quickly, we shall see in my case after Xmas.
Larry, good luck as well on Saturday, keep us posted!!!

Thanks for the props guys! The best advice I can give is get on the simulator... sim.. sim... sim... and more sim. Make sure you dont have any blind spots, you want to be able to hover nose in, right side, left side, tail in... no blind spots.
Then start your forward flight.
And yes... keep us posted!
