Mineola, TX.

We have left "Rosie" at the dealer for a few minor repairs in Nacodoches. On the way home Wanda wants to stay somewhere overnight. Mineola came to mind. Anyone have any info as where to park Rosie for the night while we check out the town? As far as that goes, any suggestions in any town between Nacodoches and Sulphur Springs TX. worth looking into and a park to stat at.

Have you thought about Tyler State Park? It been a while since we have been there, but if not on a weekend is very quite with a small lake nestled down in the pines.

We stayed at Atlanta State Park on our way home from RGV. It was quite nice for a short stay. Some pull through sites, and a lake nearby. Not directly on your shortest route to Sulphur Springs. (Interesting - I always thought Americans used an "F" to spell sulfur, I guess Sulphur Springs is an exception).

David and I stay in Tyler State park quite a bit. It is only about 45 minutes from our house, but it is really nice get away for a day or two. Tyler is pretty centrally located here in East Texas and is a pretty town....a lot of shopping for us "gals" too! That is important.
Now, up 259 20 or so miles from Longview is Lake O the Pines. There are several parks around the lake that are really beautiful. A lot of people come here for vacation and also to stay on their way to the valley or to go north. We live in Ore City which is the small town near the lake.
Now, when we go to Colorado, we have two routes that we take....and sometimes we go through Sulphur Springs ...my husband is the one that plans the trips. I think that coming this way would be a good way to head out to Sulphur Springs.
Hope this hasn't confused you, but I just had to throw my two cents in on this one.

Lake O' Pines was my pick. But my nonnavigator said she wants to check out Mineola or stay in another town for that Gal thing called shopping. Every time we go to Tyler it costs me way too much money.
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like we need to check out the Tyler State park.

Howdy, neighbor! My wife has given good advise, but I will add just a bit. On weekends the Tyler State Park can be filled. Just 4 miles north of the state park(closer to Mineola) there is a private campground named "Whispering Pines". We have stayed there on occasions when we found Tyler State Park full. Either one of these is a good place to stay.
