I have noticed a lot of folks here trading in their 1, 2, or 3 year old Montanas for newer ones. Is this a common practice, keeping your RV like its an auto lease ? Unless you get more in trade than you owe you will constantly be upside down in value. Additionally, you are constantly working out new bugs with every new unit. Maybe it's just me but I don't get it. I kept my last 5er for 10 years.

I tend to hold onto things for awhile also - particularly cars and trailers that just go down in value.

My last 5ver was a Keystone Laredo kept it for 10 years. Paid 34K sold it for 10K.

We aren’t trading in our 2016 for this exact reason even though we’ve outgrown our current floor plan.
I’d love to know how these folks are making it work or if they are just eating the cost.

We full time and intended to keep our 2010 forever, but since we full time when we saw a 2017 3720 we traded because we live in it and liked it better.

kept our 2006 till 2013 will keep this one till we are done Rv'ing.These things are money pits anyhow and it take two or three years to get all the poor workmanship bugs worked out.We have got about 5k invested in Mor Ryde IS and Trailer saver hitch to keep this thing from falling apart and we would not get it back in a trade.

We try to swap out every five years. Thinking of swapping out our 2015 earlier

I agree with most of these posts above. Another issue is you lose about $10K on a trade vs selling yourself, I think.

Its pretty obvious that anyone trading in a 2-3 year old camper (or any camper for the matter) is going to loose there a--. I certainly can not afford to do that but if you have the $$ to do so, its your $$ so knock yourself out.

Some people just don’t care what something cost. They have enough money they aren’t going to run out. They buy what they wont without thought of what it cost. As for me I buy used and keep it. I have $25000 in my 2011, 323 RL High Country. That seams expensive I build my house for $20000. I built it myself, pored the footer and put the cap on the roof and did almost everything in between.

We traded our 2010 Mountaineer that we bought new at about 3 years of use for a new 2013 Montana 3725. We actually upgraded after having RVed for a while and learning what we liked and did not like. We have now upgraded the 3725 with about $10,000 of additions and improvements that includes MorRyde IS and disc brakes, Trail Air Tri-glide pen box, G614 Tires, Progressive electric surge management along with several other items, and now have used it for 5 years. We particularly like the 3725 floor plan and hope to use it for another 3+ years. Life is an adventure and we are just passing through.

Our first was a 2001 2880 and traded for new 3000RK in 2010 and this will be the last one we own. Hopefully another 5 to 7 years of RVing left that we can do depending on our health. Will be hard to give up.

I've had this one for 3 1/2 years and probably keep it till we can't travel anymore. I'm in good health but my wife has had 2 knee replacements so i feel certain our traveling days will be cut short that's why i turned 3 steps into 4 steps inside our r.v. I've invested a lot of money in mor-ryde i.s. and disc plus many other smaller improvements. I just ordered an Lambright theater seating. It takes 2 or 3 years to get the rv the way you want it so i don't see any reason to get rid of it prematurely. I keep it in an inclosed building so it looks as good as new. If i lived in it full time then i would probably get me a better quality rv but this is just fine for what we do.

We don't have any plans of getting rid of ours for a while. We've come to love the floor plan and size. Works great for what we need.

So true as a Canadian as well. We all have our priorities. Maureen and I don't gamble or smoke for an example and live a fairly basic life other than the 5 Montana fifth wheels we have purchased.

We know it keeps costing a bundle but whenever we are spending time in our Montana we feel extremely happy and satisfied with where we are at.

Your poor kids lol. They are going to have to be honorable and respectable citizens while you are out there enjoying yourselves.I've always said no one owes there kids anything but a high school education. Get out there and have a good time because most of the folks on this forum are older and it's a race against time to be able to travel and see all that you can see before our time is up. Your health is many times your spouses health. When one can't travel then both can't travel so it's important to go and travel as much as possible. Hope you are able to buy 5 more Montanas. Have a GOOD life.

We had are first Montana for 15 years traded it in on the one we have now hope to get another 15 plus out of this one

We have kept them as long as 8 years and as short as 4 months. All but the 1st in 1974 were new. Our 2016 Cougar was 17 months old when wifey saw the Montana we had to have. I'll be 70 in May so this will probably be the last one.....
