Bedroom slide drooping
My favorite toy is back in the shop. The bedroom slide is hitting the bottom of the frame on the right side facing the slide. The shop removed the entire bedroom slide and revealed the inner guts and the problem. They rack and frame that supports and operates the slide has been hitting unnoticed since new. It was built wrong from the factory. The left side of the slide frame was built least 1/2" higher than the right side. The same amount as the droop. It could not be adjusted out according to the shop and will have to be rebuilt or replaced. As much as $1400 worth mostly labor. This claim is being sent to the extended warranty company for review. Before they even took it apart the warranty company wanted to deny it. After protesting they said if the damage was mechanical they would pay. I'll let you know. BTW they had just paid the shop about $375 for waste valve and gas valve/leak repairs. Extended Warrranty... Don't buy a RV without it!

What a bummer, especially now that it’s camping season.
I hope everything works out for you!

Good news extended warranty is footing the bill. The warranty company sent an adjuster out to the shop to take a look at the steel frame that supports the bedroom slide. After over an hour of checking and measuring they realized it was built crooked from the factory. Parts are on order. 12+ hours labor and parts. This is going to be over $1500 job. If you buy a camper with slides and intend to use it I recommend a good extended warranty. Mine has paid for itself a couple times over now.

The new steel rack to replace the one that was built crooked at the factory is in. They were putting back together and found a little rotten wood. About $400 to replace! The desigh of the bedroom slide is scary bad. You have this huge 2" x 2" steel frame that supports and holds up the bed and the bedroom slide. The steel frame is bolted to a 3/4" plywood frame with 5 countersunk carriage bolts leaving 1/2" to 5/8" of plywood holding the entire slide. The slide the bed and the people sleeping on the bed are supported by a little bit of plywood. It looks like the 4" thin metal moulding that is around the outside of the bedroom wall was loose from the bedroom drooping letting rainwater in that rotted what little wood there was. Now that bottom of the bedroom plywood has to be replaced. Another weekend without camping.

Go with the extended warranty company that your dealer reccomends if you think that is where you will get your service. I wouldn't reccomend my warranty company but I would reccomend getting one if you intend to use your camper frequently.

I see a lot of talk about the extended warrantees. I went to the search and typed it in and found a few. They all say they are the best and some say others are bad. How can you tell which are the stable ones that will be there when you need them? One company gave me to different prices on the same day for the same product and a very large gap in price. Is there a standout company that services as it proclaims? My dealer says they do not sell one because they have had no call for it, however they are looking into having some due to the fact that more buyers are looking at purchasing one right away and he feels that he may lose some sales if he does not offer one.
