Defective black Tank

Hi ya'all,
I know I am no longer a Montana owner, now have a 08 Carriage Cameo. I have a good friend who has a 2002 Montana and just had to replace his black tank. When the OEM black tank was installed, there was a 5" diameter piece of plastic left in the tank when the hole for drain was made. As a result, there was only about a 3/4" openning to drain the tank when the excess piece got stuck in drain hole. This resulted in only liquid draining, and most of the nasty stuff settling in tank. The tank finally cracked resulting in big mess and a new replacement. My friend is trying to get Fleetwood to reimburse for cost of new tank and they say it is out of warranty, but after further discussion is not sure if they will pay or not. Have any of you folks had this problem, and if so who footed the bill after warranty? Since you have the best forum going from my past experience, I really appreciate your input.

Has your friend considered writing to Trailer Life's RV Action Line? They usually get good results when they contact the manufacturer.
Good Luck

rrheik,

Maybe he should try talking with Keystone instead of Fleetwood. At least I think that is who manufactures the Montana. Since it was an obvious error by the maker of the rig I'd think they'd want to step up and take responsibility.

Good luck.
