microwave
we used our microwave this weekend for the first time to heat and reheat things. my wife was making hot tea and the microwave beep it was done. when she went to get it out the microwave displayed END and was still running. it ran for another minute or so. i even opened the door and it wouldn't shut off. so we monitored it and sometimes it shut off and other times it would run. any ideas?

Quit drinking hot tea. Sorry swanny, I couldn't resist. Sounds like the door microswitches may be malfunctioning. I had mine replaced by a small applicance repair shop. If yours is still under warranty, try the dealer. I'm told you could buy the switches, if that is the problem.......

Is it actually still heating or is just the fan running. The fan often continues to run after you stop on these micro-convection ovens.

i think it's the fan. but it makes me very uneasy opening a microwave and something keeps running.
this is about how it went. on high for 1min 30sec, beeper sounded, display lit up end and it sounded exactly the same as when it was heating. opened the door no change, closed the door pushed stop no change. about 1min. later it just shut off.

Put a marshmallow or something on a paper plate in there to see if it is still microwaving.

Swanny, you didn't mention the brand of microwave but, I have the Apollo and it doesn't run at all after it goes off. Not sure what is happening with yours...

We have the Sylvania microwave (no convection). If you have the brochure that should have come with the RV, hopefully it has a number for warranty issues. I would give them a call. Our turn table broke while we were in Port Mansfield, TX, and they shipped a new turn table to our door in our RV Park. Very nice to deal with.

The cooling fan should only continue running if you had been cooking on convection. It would shut off when the cavity reached the preset temp for that.
